Default For Ron Stalkers! But only if you live in CT and have lots of money!

http://www.greenwichtime.com/news/lo...ocal-headlines

I found this on the internet today. wonder how high the bidding will go? It's from the Greenwich, CT news.

Annual PTA auction has star appeal March 6, 2003

When you are trying to organize an Academy Awards-themed auction, it never hurts to have a genuine Oscar-winner pitch in.

Thus, organizers of this year's Greenwich High School PTA Auction, scheduled for 6 p.m. tomorrow, were overjoyed when Academy Award-winning director Ron Howard agreed to help.

Howard, a Greenwich resident, donated a priceless item to this year's auction: a chance to spend a day with him in Santa Fe, N.M., on the set of his new movie, "Missing," starring Tommy Lee Jones and Cate Blanchett.

The item is one of hundreds on the auction block, ranging from the simple (a collection of six compact discs, value: $98) to the exotic (a week's vacation on Kiawah Island, S.C., value: thousands) to the practical (gym bag, value: $54)....

OMG! Can you imagine! How exciting to get a chance to do that. Santa Fe, NM! That's the next state over from me! If only I had won the lottery last night!

(P.S. to WD; I've met Jerry Orbach and he's really neat!)

Hi Tuscadero and White Daisy! Just want to clarify that the PTA event is Friday night, not Thursday. And I would be surprised if Ron made an appearance. His movie is supposed to start filming next week in New Mexico, and he always runs a rehearsal period before his movies, which I am sure is going on. But, golly gee if I lived in CT, I would probably find a way to get there anyway just to be sure!

As for Ron living in Greenwich, I think this is one of several homes he owns, including ones in Westchester County, NY, NYC, and Hilton Head. However, there have been several articles from the same news source over the past year which have always listed Ron as a Greenwich resident. Ron's CT home is apparently in the same community where Mel Gibson also has a home, although Mel also lives in California.

Maybe Animal Crackers needs to get herself to New Mexico! The movie, "The Missing" is filming in Santa Fe, using a sound stage at the College of Santa Fe, and I assume other outdoor sites in that area. Two years ago when Ron was filming "A Beautiful Mind" in Princeton, NJ and NYC, many, many fan reports were on the web from people who met the cast and crew at a wide variety of film locations. Lots of Russell Crowe fans especially. Believe it or not, my sister's niece unexpectedly and with no planning at all met all of them (except Russell) in a local Princeton bar/restaurant. She said the crew bought drinks for everyone in the bar. The sad part is she knew Ron was a famous director but only because she saw the Simpsons episode he was on. So not only did she meet him and the entire movie crew and many of the actors, they hung out together! I was so jealous! Still am.

Anyway, I would love to have the money to be in on that bidding. I will watch for the results on the web!

Tuscadero!

In all seriousness, I suspect that like me, you'd never do such a thing. I feel strongly that people like Ron and Mel deserve privacy. It is always alarming to hear stories about people being stalked. Remember the woman who was stalking David Letterman and told everyone she was his wife? She actually constantly broke into his house, in Greenwich, CT, as a matter of fact.

But, hanging out in the right restaurants, maybe I could do that.

LOL...ok, ok, no need to scold!

You're 100% right; in fact, I'm glad that they've found privacy in Greenwich. I can't imagine living a live where everyone is always trying to look at you, talk to you, and *annoy* you!

I've met some public people before, and I find that if you're kind and honest, that's the best approach (not to mention down to earth). So, "RONNIE! YOU'RE STILL AS CUTE AS OPIE!" probably won't do. LOL

Tuscadero! That's Funny!!

"Ron, you're still as cute as Richie?" No, not that either!

I do think it is easy to meet someone famous if you were not wanting to, it is just a nice surprise. Long ago, I met Nipsy Russell (a comedian from years ago!) and spent 30 minutes or so talking to him after a concert with some friends. Very sweet man, and like you said, down to earth is the way to go.

If I ran into Ron, or someone like Mel Gibson, I am afraid I would become mute, or, the opposite, just start babbling. Celebrities have to put up with alot of this I fear.

It really must be weird to be someone everyone knows so much about, or thinks they do, meeting others about whom the famous person knows nothing. Celebrity does put a twist on your daily life, I am quite sure I am not cut out for that!

Well, whatever, it is still fun to chat about! And I still want to see how much Ron goes for!
