In honor of the remastered Police catalog getting issued today (on both CD and Super Audio CD), and their upcoming reunion performance at their Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction March 10, I thought I'd initiate this topic.

Man, that's a hard choice.
I think Regatta may be their best but Zenyetta comes close. I used to think that Ghost in the Machine was the greatest, but in retrospect I think it may be third best. I am one of those people who is not in love with Synchronicity. If I could only have three Police albums, it would not be one of them. So I have to think before I vote. Did that make any sense? |

My mom loves the Police. I'll have to ask her opinion.

Which album had "Walking On the Moon", "Driven to Tears", and "Message In a Bottle" on them?

"Message In A Bottle" and "Walking In The Moon" are from Reggatta de Blanc. "Driven To Tears" is from Zenyatta Mondatta.

There is a sad article in the latest Guitar World as to how and why the Police broke up...

This is how (the abysmal) "Don't Stand So Close To Me '86" came to be: the band returned to the studio in 1986 to record a new album, but because they weren't really getting along anymore (and because Sting's solo career had pretty much already been launched), they decided just to make a "greatest hits" where they were to re-record their biggest songs. Even that didn't work, and the only two they could churn out were "Don't Stand So Close To Me '86," which showed up on Every Breath You Take: The Singles (later refurbished and renamed Every Breath You Take: The Classics), and "De Do Do Do, De Da Da Da '86," which didn't surface until 2000, when the DVD-Audio of Every Breath You Take: The Classics was released. A sad breakup to a great band, indeed. But I can't wait until next week when I get to see the guys do a small reunion performance at their induction at the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame. They're set to do three songs together. It should be great. |

I thought that was an...interesting version of the song,
certainly couldn't compare with the original. It's sad that Sting has gotten all this recognition and Andy Summers and Stewart Copeland haven't, even though they're very talented... I wonder how that R&RHOF show will go....
