Default The Credit Card

My dad and I were watching this episode tonight where Eddie gets his own credit card and then pays for Wally's new car battery with it. Well, my dad noticed sort of a slip up in the scene where Eddie's parents are trying to figure out who's car Eddie bought the battery for. Well, Mrs. Haskell says "Oh, it's that Cleaver boy, Eddie". My dad pointed out that in the show Eddie and Wally have been best friends since they were little kids or at least for a pretty long time and yet Mrs. Haskell still refers to Wally as "That Cleaver boy"! Wouldn't she call her own son's best friend more than that and not like he's some stranger?! Just seems a little weird. I sure never noticed that until my dad saw it and pointed it out.

I ALWAYS noticed that, and it bugs the heck out of me!!! I don't know what the writers were thinking. I guess they weren't. They both definately should have known Wally very well, especially after all these years!!!

I never noticed that before. I think wally said he knew eddie since second grade or something it does sound strange that he would call him "the cleaver boy" after all this time though.oh and by the way haskell girl nice pic in your sig!

Red face

I noticed the same thing. She said "It must be the Cleaver boy"

To me it seemed like the parents were not friends too much. Like they never hang together.

I agree! I mean, they let Eddie stay the night with the Cleavers when they went out of town in "Eddie Spends the Night" and he and Ward are on a first name basis in that episode, showing they clearly know each other pretty well.

Default Wally and Eddie as toddlers

In the episode Nobody Loves Me, June and Ward are looking at a family photo album. One of the pictures was taken at Wally's birthday party when he was three. Eddie was one of the guests at the party.

Eddie and Wally have been close forever but that doesn't mean that Eddie's parents are close to Wally. If you watch any of the episodes that focus on Eddie you can tell he's not close to his parents. I think thats one of the reasons he likes to hang out at Wally's house. He seems to spend a lot more time there than Wally spends at his house. They probably know Wallys name but I don't think its that strange that they might not call him by it. Since this is one of my favorite episodes I'll have to watch the scene closely next time and see if I think its strange.
