Default Ron Howard's Biography avavilable and HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Ron TOO!!

Hi Guys! Just a little update.

Ron Howard's biography is now listed as avavilable at the usual sites such as Amazon, Borders, Barnes and Nobles. I haven't yet The author, Beverly Gray, has a website that was just updated to include info about Ron's biography. I am posting the link and the book overview information posted on her site. There are numerous categories to navigate through including the book index, a list of some comments about Ron, and links to websites. One of which is HAPPY DAYS Sitcoms on line. I am sure it will be in the book also.

Author Beverly Gray

Ron Howard: From Mayberry to the Moon . . . and Beyond is the first in-depth look at how the impish young redhead from The Andy Griffith Show (1960-1968) grew up to be a award-winning filmmaker. Few show biz kids become adult success stories within the motion picture industry, and it is rarer still to find a child star who makes the leap from acting into directing. But Howard, both as a director and as the co-founder of Imagine Entertainment, is one of the most powerful players in today's Hollywood. At the same time, he remains one of Hollywood's most genuinely beloved figures.

One striking aspect of Howard's adult career is the fact that, although he may be of Hollywood, he no longer lives in Hollywood. In 1985, the year he released Cocoon, he and his wife Cheryl moved their growing family to placid Greenwich, Connecticut. This move has served to insulate him from the pressures of the film industry, and allowed him to keep intact his reputation as a nice guy. But his niceness is hardly the whole story: he's far more complex than he seems.

Author Beverly Gray is an entertainment industry veteran. To write Ron Howard: From Mayberry to the Moon . . . and Beyond, Gray interviewed a long list of teachers, friends, and professional colleagues from all phases of Howard's life. She has also combed the archives to gain further insight into this very private man whose accomplishments have brought pleasure to so many. A full filmography and sixteen pages of classic photographs (many in color) augment her text.

By the way today is Ron's 49th birthday!

I went to the booksore and bought this book (along with a ton of others-- me, a Visa card, and a bookstore is never a pretty combination ) I skimmed though it, but didn't really read it yet. I read a short blurb on when Howard announced he was leaving Happy Days and signed a contract with NBC. That was pretty emotional. I must confess that it brought tears to my eyes. It looks like Beverly Gray did a marvelous job writing it. And, as soon as I find the time, I'm going to sit down and read it. The cover is fabulous. There's a short section of photos. There's another section listing all Howard's awards and achievements.

Has anyone else purchased this book? What did you think of it?

I just emailed Beverly Gray regarding her book. For anyone who has not read it, it is fascinating. She goes to great lengths to ensure Ron Howard's entire self is presented in this book, which could not have been an easy job. She commented that Ron Howard wished to "keep himself seperate" from the book. I am left wondering if she ever heard anything from him on it.

Hi College Girl! I also just picked up the book a few days ago and am now about a third of the way through it. I agree it is a very thorough and enjoyable read and that Beverly did a great job. I would love to discuss it when I am finished with you or anyone else who reads it. Overall the book seems very favorable in its depiction of Ron.

I also had emailed Beverly a few months back and received a nice reply. She emailed me again just recently to tell me the book was available. She invited me to email again with my comments about the book, whick I certainly will do!

Oh, I love book discussions. That would be a splendid idea! I'm afraid this biography is on the bottom of a large stack of other books that I'm reading for college classes. I'm sneaking a few peeks at it every now and again, though (whenever curiousity gets the best of me). But, this is spring break, so I should hopefully get caught up on ALL my assignments.
