Question Favorite Ted Moment?

Since we've done favorite episode, favorite character, etc, I thought I'd try something different to generate discussion. What's everybody's favorite Ted Baxter moment (Or moments)? Mine would be:

-His "composition" in "Two Wrongs Don't Make a Writer"
-The whole scene with Walter Cronkite in "Ted Baxter Meets Walter Cronkite" ("So, Walt, let's talk shop. What words do you have trouble pronouncing?")
-The vantriloquist routine in "Murray Can't Lose"

What are yours?

Kristen

Too many to list, but the first that comes to mind is Ted's little speech to Mary in 'Mary Moves Out'.
Also, for some reason I like 'An Affair to Forget' it's hard to believe that anyone would believe that Ted and Mary were 'together.'

My fave Ted moments are when he recites his "It all started in Fresno, California."
In Ted & Georgette's wedding, when Murray tells Ted what to say.
I like it, can't remember the ep title right now, when Ted says, "Since we can't give our acceptance speeches, can we just stand and be acknowledged by our peers?"
When Gordy takes over for Ted and Gordy says, "This is Gordon Howard, filling in for the...vacationing Ted Baxter." And Ted comes running in, and says, "Thank you, Gordy, for filling in for me, when I was in the men's room."
I also like the Ted Baxter, Walter Cronkite meeting and Ted's vantriloquist routine.
That's all I can think of right now. Might be many more!

As one of our wise Mary regulars said, "too many to list"; I'll try anyway. The one noted above is on the list, but you knew that already, Kristen.

Once I Had a Secret Love
Mary's in Lou's office crying (into a sock) and Ted tries to cheer her up. Mary looks up and Ted yells "BOO!" (Mary cries louder.) Ted realizes his goof, "Oh. That's for hiccups."

Operation: Lou
Ted's on-air tribute to Lou as he tells the audience about Lou's recent surgery:
"It was touch-and-go for a while...as doctors removed...THIS!" (Ted holds up a huge paperweight he had made for Lou.)

Ted Baxter's Famous Broadcasting School
All of it.

I'd better stop now or I'll have about 50% of the series listed.

How'd I know you'd list "Ted Baxter's Famous Broadcaster's School?" I would've listed it myself, but like you I couldn't pick one moment, it's all too good!

OMG, I had forgotten about that part in "Once I Had a Secret Love" and that's one of my fave episdes, too! :::Kicks self:::

Also there's that moment in "Sue Ann's Sister" where he straightens his hat in the mirror in Sue Ann's bedroom. I think I remember reading somewhere that that was an ad-lib on Ted Knight's part. Either way, it was brilliant.

I'm a Mary regular? Awww, thanks!
You picked some good ones. I love the weeping into a sock quote!

Another favorite moment of mine is when Ted is trying think of a letter that begins with 'X' and he says 'eXtra!' Which is from 'Just a Lunch.'

I like that one too. I thought of another one. I saw it in a clip on the "Mary Tyler Moore Reunion." I think it's when Sue Ann's sister comes and Ted says, "You're from Dixie." "That's right." "My wife & I use your cups a lot."

*Ted walks in the bar*

Ted: "Hi guys!"

*Murray, Mary, and Lou crying*

*Ted gets sad and eventually starts crying*

...

Ted [To Murray]: *while crying* "What happened?"

Murray: "Something sad, Ted"

Ted: *starts crying harder and yells;* "I was afraid of that!!"

Great quote from Ted today...

[from ep. #131, "Mary Richards Falls in Love"]

Mary: Joe, this is Ted Baxter.
Ted: Hi. This is Georgette, my first wife.

The one I liked was Mary and Ted and maybe lou or Murray go to a convention and a young woman gets the hots for Ted. He asks Mary to tell the woman to leave him alone. THe episode was in the later years. The woman is in bed waiting for Ted/

I was watching "The Snow Must Go On" on my DVD last night and I discovered yet another moment. When Ted is just about exhausted from being on-air so long, Mary brings Father Flynt over to talk to him. Ted's like, "What's he doing here? Do I look that bad?!" I'm sure I haven't done the joke justice but hopefully a few of you know what I'm talking about.

Also, the episode mentioned in the above post is "Ted's Temptation" in case anyone's curious.

Yes, I recall that. (And if I didn't, I can always play the DVD.) Ted is looking very disheveled and thinks they brought in a priest to read him his Last Rites.
