To dynoguy who posted on 12-11 of last year asking about a resolution in the Annette Kaye Snee/Bobbi Obleholtzer case that was featured on UM where two women were murdered within hours of each other and later orange socks were found linking the two murders.
For years it was thought that bobbi's husband Jeff murdered the two girls although all charges were later dropped against him. NOW FOR THE NEW INFORMATION which at one time might have been posted on this very message board. There was a book written about a number of murders that took place in Breckenridge Colorado during the time of both Annette and bobbi's deaths. All the killings were done by one individual whose MO (picking up hitchhikers) was the same of the man who likely killed Bobbi and Annette. This individual if my memory serves me right either is dead or was captured and is serving a long/life term in prison. Although he has never admitted to the killings of Bobbi and Annette it is assumed that they were among the victims of this serial killer. Later. |

I have watched this segment about these girls who were slayed and when they found their corpses had in common this orange sock, i always believed that the husband was responsible.
But just recently i read an article about FBI profilers and it mentioned a crime called "The Orange Sock Killings" but it didnt go too specific about who the victims were, etc. just mentioned that Henry Lee Lucas was suspected of do it. Henry Lee Lucas confessed several killings (actually he claim he was responsible for John Walsh's son death) but most of them are believed to be just bluff. Is it posible this "Orange Sock Crime" is the one that we're talkin about here? |

Henry Lee Lucas claimed to have killed the still-unidentified woman known only as Orange Socks. The woman in question was found dead in a Texas ditch in 1979. Lucas was sentenced to die for that murder, but his death sentence was commuted to life in prison in 1998, because of increasing doubts about his guilt in that murder (he still had other life terms to serve for several other murders; he died of a heart attack in 2001.) Unsolved Mysteries has never done a segment in relation to that Orange Socks case, only the two cases in Colorado. But I think it would be nice to see UM do a story on the Texas "Orange Socks" case, so that hopefully someone watching will have a chace to ID her. It's just awful for a deceased person to remain unidenified.

The one I mentioned definatley took place in Breckenridge. Although the husband (Jeff) looked a little bit like a Grizzly Adams reject I don't think he killed those two girls unless it was proven that perhaps he might have been having an affair or something with Annette and Bobbi his wife found out about it or something but that is pure speculation on my part. In fact I think one of the reasons the charges were dropped against Jeff Obleholtzer was that no clear cut motive could ever be established although opportunity sure was as UM Jeff did have the "perfect" amount of time to leave his home, kill the two girls and get back to drink beer and watch television with some of his friends (this was one of the alabis Jeff used in the UM broadcast)
Another case that always bothered me was the one of the kidnapped/murdered girl Kerry Lynn Nixon this was one of the first UM I ever saw - Although it was later resolved sadly with Nixon being found dead what creeps me out is that a woman in another state swore she ran into Nixon after she was reported missing - This is the case in a lot of UM segments involving missing persons and it always creeps me out!! - That and the Judy Hines/Omaha caller really have given me some sleepless nights Later. |

Its sad to hear that the "Orange sock" case related to Lucas its not the Colorado one, ive thought that at least there was a lead to solve that one. I hope the id of "Orange Socks victim" to be discovered soon.
