Mine's kinda long to, but here's one of my favorites.
WARD: I remember my first love. Her face was a mass of freckles. She had bright orange hair and one front tooth that was slow in coming down... JUNE: She sounds enchanting. WARD: I loved her though. Until my second love came along...(begins hugging June. June giggles, thinking he's referring to her) Her hair was dark and... JUNE: (pushes away from Ward and interrupts) Just where did I come in? WARD: Oh, I'd say 14th or 15th give or take one love. JUNE: And may I ask why you stopped there? WARD: Oh, you know why honey...(Ward and June hug again)...your father had a hutmobile. (June pushes away again and smiles as Ward leaves) (I know he doesn't say "hutmobile", but that's what it sounds like he says. Could someone tell me what he really says and what it is? He says it alot and I have no clue what that is.) I love the way they always pick at each other. It's so cute. |

From "Beaver's Hero":
June comes into the garage where Ward was explaining the equipment in his war trunk to the boys and sees the 15-year-old pictures of her Ward had taped onto the inside top. June: Oh Ward, did I ever really look like that? Ward: (Smiling affectionately) Oh yes, you really did.... but I married you anyway. From "Larry Runs Away"; an example of Ward's sometimes masterful double talk: Beaver and Larry had been sharing a meal while it is still unknown to Ward and June that Larry is there, and Larry told Beaver, "I don't like the way our mom cooks carrots." Later, as Ward and June are doing the dishes, Ward: Dear, I just don't know of anyone who can cook carrots the way you do. June: Well-- thank you, dear! From "Kite Day": The family is at the dinner table, and Beaver has just asked Ward to help him build a kite to enter in the contest at 'Kite Day'. Ward: Well Beaver, it just so happens that I was known as the best kite-builder in Shaker Heights. Beaver: Was he, Mom? June: By the time I met your father, his high-flying days were over. |
