Thumbs down I'm pulling the plug off...

I'm pulling the plug off this show! This evening I was eating dinner with my children and Friends was on. All that came out of their mouths were the word A$$... Now...... It's not like I've never heard the word before. But, I'll be darn if I have to sit and watch one of my favorite shows saying the word over and over. There are alot of shows that I refused to watch because of the content. I just got sick & tired of hearing A$$, A$$,, A$$ over and over........ Can't anyone speak normal anymore? It's time this show stopped running.............

That's not what bothers me about this show. The writing just isn't there anymore. The 1st 4 seasons were classic but after that it just got worse and worse. It's a shame.

You know I understand what you mean, when you are watching tv during dinner and they only other word that comes out of their mouth is A$$ that's not the greatest. But for them to take it off because of that is crazy! You'd have to take every single show off if that was the case! Maybe the people who don't like it just shouldn't watch or not watch it with a younger audience!

I agree with JenniferA,

Friends isn't intended for kids anyways, so basically turn the channel if you don't like it. What do you expect them to say?, thats what real people in real life talk about. Perhaps that show with Bob Saget and the Olsen twins is more suited for some. No need to knock like the best show EVER!

Well dude I have lived in the times when you could put the TV on at 8:00 and not hear so much cussing. If you like friends more power to you........

Hello Pitooey, well, in all do respects of coarse! ,

You mentioned a time when you could watch tv and not hear 'cussing'. Well, was it the same time when tv implied all women were no more than house wives?, or cross ethnic relationships were no more than just being neighbours? , or being gay was an impossible myth?. Put it this way, Wil & Grace is a tame show but there is no way that it gets aired in the days you refer to. All in the Family would be considered very tame by todays standards and Archie Bunker rambled off many ethnic slurs.

I guess it all depends in perspectives, culture and generations but nowadays the word "ass" isn't considered a cuss despite the context it is used in. It is in the dictionary, you can say it in public and use in scrabble. Though the meaning is differen't , my POINT is that there are far more negative potrayals in the " good ol days" than there are today. That it doesn't have to take a "cuss word" to have a negative meaning.

People do use alot of inappropriate slang in everyday conversation, thats just the way it is .The show Friends ,whether its right or wrong, do potray their generation very well otherwise it wouldn't be so popular to that age group. Its been this way for awhile so I don't understand how it took you so long to realize that Friends had a mature content to it!

I'm not here trying to insult anyone ,disrespect anyone , or lookin for a fight on a sitcom forum just wanted to further a discussion that interested me a bit! have a good one.

Hello dude

I know times have changed. I've had friends on since the beginning of time and I've understood the content of the material.

The reason I don't see certain movies or shows is because of the language. I choose not to turn it on. There was a time when I would put on the show Friends and not hear the word ASS........... Why does this word have to be said over and over?

All of a sudden I noticed that the friends are speaking more and more into ADULT like banter. I can understand if the rest of the people here want to continue to see the show. They probably don't have small children. I just don't agree with ASS being said over a dozen times in a 3 minute segment that's all.

I use to put on this show it was one of my favorites. I just have to shield my kids from it. My kids will know soon enough the bad language but, they won't hear it in my house if I could help it!

I forgot to mention that if they were referring to ASS ( as in behind) they should've used the word Behind. Maybe I would still be watching the show.

Now I know that 8:00 PM is not an appropriate time for the children to watch channel 4 here in NYC. (It use to be only cable TV that I had to shield them). Now it's regular channels too.

Hearing Monica say "Kiss my BEHIND!" just doesn't have the same effect as hearing her say Kiss my ass!

My daughter watches Friends with me. I dont' even flinch. She knows she's not allowed to say it.

I was raised in a very good family, very loving, and I knew every cuss under the sun by age 10; children will learn them, one way or another.

The writing just isn't very good anymore. The majority of jokes aren't funny & the stories just aren't there (Well, they are, but they're not very good).

Plus, Chandler, Monica & Rachel are all looking really old; while Ross, Joey & Rachel all look the same.

As much as I hate to say it, I wish everyone hadn't agreed to another season. I mean, it's like, the comedic acting of David Shwimmer & Matt LeBlanc are the only things keepings the show afloat now.
