Default After seeing part 2 of Gloria and Mike's visit, I have a one questions

I was wondering what was the continuation with Mike being fired for marching in the nude. Now that i have seen part 2, i have one question.

Did Mike get another job?

Default i don't know....

the impression i got watching this episode was that they were going to be staying at the bunker's until mike found a job...this is definitely a thanksgiving i missed until it was just recently shown...but then it just went on without them, and no further references to the situation came...so i am at a loss on this one...

This was a very bad error that I noticed 20 years ago when this first aired and have been wondering ever since. We know the Stivics returned to Santa Barbara, but we don't know exactly when since it wasn't mentioned and the next 10 or so episodes are all set at the bar (except for The Shabbat Dinner, which actually was filmed before Thanksgiving Reunion, otherwise Edith was still alive but unseen and we hardly ever saw the Bunker home until after Edith died). Actually the Stivics current location is not mentioned again until "Archie Alone" when Archie says to forward Edith's life insurance check to Gloria, who lives in "California, in Santa Barbara".

But we never found out if Mike got his old job back or if he got another teaching job. Of course, he ran off the "homecoming queen" to the commune which implies he was teaching again and since there is only one major college in Santa Barbera (UCSB) it implies he got back his old job. If he didn't, then why would they return to Santa Barbara? But the circumstances of how he got his job back were a major issue that even though he was no longer a regular cast member, should have at least been mentioned.

I think i may have to record over those two part episodes because the ending of part 2 was very incomplete. I thought the purpose of a part 2 was to end a particular storyline. So i see no point in watching those episodes again because part two told me nothing.

The writers simply wanted Mike and Gloria to guest star on ABP and did a poor job of finding them a story. It would have been much better if they had guest starred the following season when Edith died (with Maude and the Jeffersons).

What do you mean Maude and the Jeffersons?

You can do whatever you want, Solomon. I really do wish you would reconsider about recording over the eps. I would at least keep them so you would have them. You don't have to rewatch them, just keep them so you'll have them.

Yeah, I know I'm really starting to sound like a broken record here. It's just I've made so many dumb mistakes by accidentally recording over something and I don't want anybody else to record over something and a few years down the line they want to see the eps again, but they can't because they recorded over them years ago.

I have to think about it, i was so disappointed at how incomplete the story of Mike and Gloria coming to visit was on ABP. That was the first time i ever looked at a 2 part episode on a sitcom and there was no real conclusion.

I meant that if they had done an episode that takes place right after Edith's death and showed the gathering at the Bunker home right after the funeral, then not only Mike and Gloria would be there but also Maude and the Jeffersons, as in Thomas' wonderful fan fic.
