Question Why was it Cancelled

Was it low ratings???

OR was it something I heard from someone.. John Stamos refused to do a 9th season?

I don't know why it was cancelled, but it wasn't because of ratings. It was in the top 25 in it's last season.

I seem to remember reading somewhere that the cancellation came as a shock to everyone who worked on the show, and no one really knew about it until the last minute.

Aww.... poor them! .. But how was the finale? I didnt catch it? Was it a "our show ran 8 years so we're gonna have a memorable finale" or was it a "regular episode"

It just got old. The kids all grew up, the actors wanted to move on. I beleive it was a mutual understanding betweek the stars and ABC. It did have a finale but it wasnt great. Michele got amnesia after falling off a horse and the whole thing was about her remembering again. It was an hour long ep. The ep had to be retaped to be used as a series finale, the creators wanted a 9th season. ABC and John Stamos didnt want to commit. The new network on the block at the time, "The WB", tried to pick up the show but without John Stamos signing on the deal fell through.

DJ, Stephanie and Michelle were too old; they weren't really that vital to the show anymore. Joey, Jesse, Becky and Danny turned into the only real stars, and although they're great together, it would be silly to keep FULL HOUSE going with just these four stars.

I remember reading in the paper that the show got too expensive to produce, but I don't think that's the whole, if real, story.

Thumbs down i miss it

I miss this show totally. I am from australia and it aired here for YEARS and repeats even aired and I loved watching those, now its never on and any channel at all and I miss it. I wish it would come back, I might find someone with the tapes and just trade or buy them. I miss them too much. I grew up totally with this show.

"Full House" was doing quite well the last year it was on, but remember ABC had always paired it with "Roseanne" or "America's Funniest Home Videos." The show was ready for 9th year, and it was rumored to be moved back to it's old TGIF time period, but yes, it's true, John Stamos didn't want to continue due to the fact that he might be stigmatized as Jesse--hello?? He was on the show for 8 years, I think he was forever associated with the Jesse character like one year into the show, but nonetheless, the "Last" episode was really the season finale, as the cast didn't know the show was cancelled at the time it was taped. Michelle went horseback riding, falls off the horse and hits her noggin and loses her memory. Everyone in the family, including Kimmy, reminisce with Michelle about some of the wackier moments in the house (done through flashbacks)....She does regain her memory, and at the end of the show , there was a message on the screen--something to the effect of "Lots of love from our family to yours"---and that was the end.

I can imagine why he would want to leave, I'm sure he didn't want to typecasted as Jesse, the rest of his acting career.

I thought the series finale was a bit odd, Michelle getting amnesia and forgetting everything, she didn't even know who she was and who her family was, it seemed like it wasn't a 'happily ever after' ending.

I was surprised Danny didn't re-marry, I always thought Danny should've married Vicki, they were meant for each other, but instead they had to go their seperate ways.

As much as I love Danny & Vikki together, the episode where they part adds some great emotional depth to FH. As great as it would be for Vikki to stay and marry him, the fact that they split up yet remain friends only makes the show that much stronger.

Other sitcoms would've just gone the easy route.
