I'm writing an Evaluation Essay on "TV Networks" anyone got any suggestions? - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

I was wondering if any of you guys got some good topics that would make a good evaluation essay on TV Networks.

People in here that are more TV Buffs than me should come up with quite a few

o0o.. TV! My favorite subject.

Money. And how networks are so $$ hungry that if a show doesnt rack in the top, its gone quicker than you can say mid season replacement. Back in time, networks werent as concerned with money, but now if theyre not #1, they're nothing. Take The Brady Bunch. Never cracked top 35!!! But look now.. Brady Bunch is EVERYWHERE. Its one of the most recognizable shows. So how come ABC didnt drop it when it brought in the ratings? Well, it was high with kids (especially the Brady tours!!

), but kids dont matter now. Its gotta be the 18-34 range. Even critics opinions dont count as high. Freaks & Geeks and Once & Again got amazing reviews, yet didnt last because of poor ratings. The biggest craze now? Reality shows. Theyre cheap, easy to do, and everybody loves them. When it comes to networks, FOX is always struggling to come @ the top, and every once in a while has some major boosts. (Married... With Children & The Simpsons, etc.) ABC was also struggling, but has seemed to bounce back with their new Tuesday night lineup.
