I don't recall seeing a episode how Hulio not livin next door anymore. Was it ever explained?

In The Sanford Arms episode of Sanford and Son,Fred and Lamont took out a loan on Julio's house. He may have moved back to New York to be with his mother and his sister and her son. I would have liked to have seen Julio again to visit Fred and Lamont. That would have been fun to watch.

yeah that episode was on tonight-i was waiting for them to say something about why Hulio is not next door anymore. they never did

Was the real reason Julio left the show was to go on Barney Miller? I don't remember the dates, but was it around the same time?? He was on both shows.

Yes-that was the reason because Barney Miller started in the fall of 1975 and Hulio was no longer seen on Sanford and Son after the spring of 1975.

Correction, Solomon. Barney Miller debuted in January 1975 and Gregory Sierra was one of the original cast members of the show. To my knowledge,the last episode he did as Julio was when Julio and the Sanfords were going to do a TV commercial to promote their junk businesses.

Yeah, Gregory Sierra (Julio) left to do Barney Miller. It was never really explained what happened to Julio (as far as I know), he just "left," lol.
