Angry FOX: The Network of Hype and Hoopla

What is going wrong with the Fox Network??? Last night, the 300th episode of the Simpsons was on,and lo and behold,it was not the 300th episode,it was the 302nd,the 300th aired on February 2nd. Next we have to endure yet another Michael Jackson special Thursday night(thank God I am not watching!!!),what more are we going to learn from this special, that Michael is coming out of the closet??? And what's with these American Idols,Joe Millionaires, and all of that baloney??? I have just learned that they are going to have yet another show, this time two people are going to get married on the spot without meeting one another firsthand. I wish that Fox would get some sitcoms or something going, keep wishing that they would get to show "The Shield" since they show it on their sister station FX. The best shows that Fox ever had are Married With Children, King of The Hill, and The Simpsons. What FOX is turning out now is pure garbage.

What does everyone else think??? Give me your opinion.

FOX's decision to embrace the reality genre rather than concentrate on producing quality sitcoms has annoyed me to no end.
Milking "The Simpsons" for all they've got (and believe me, they've haven't much left) while cancelling fine shows like "Andy Richter," "Family Guy," "Futurama" and "Undeclared" in favor of rediculous stunt programs like "Celebrity Boxing" may be profitable now, but when they (and all the other nets) drive reality shows into the ground, what will they have?
TV producers and execs are no longer developing sitcoms or dramas; they're all looking for the next "Joe Millionaire" or "Survivor."
FOX tried for years to be accepted as a ligitimate network. I don't think they will ever achieve that goal.

Actually... FOX tried to be the opposite of the other networks- and they succeeded. They are different, and do what other networks won't dare to do.
What other network would of gave "Married With Children," "Simpsons," "Tracey Ulman," "Melrose Place," and even "Joe Millionaire" a chance to air?!

If they really wanted to, they've could of become a "respected" network. They have/do air some respectable shows- "Boston Public," "24," "Malcolm In The Middle," and some once-not-respected FOX show now are- "Simpsons," "Married With Children," "Bervely Hills, 90210," "Melrose Place," "Living Single," etc.

I completely agree with you. It seems like FOX only cares about reality shows with big ratings instead of quality scripted shows. It really ticks me off though that networks today can hardly ever keep a show, and the shows they keep aren't that great. If FOX was still airing Andy Richter Controls the Universe, Greg the Bunny, Family Guy, and Futurama, it would be my favorite network.

I feel that FOX's glory days are behind us. Except for The Simpsons and King Of The Hill and Malcolm In The Middle and maybe the action series, the FOX network is going downhill real fast. There aren't anything like they have on the WB and UPN,a series such as 7th Heaven on WB,and the comedies like the Parkers on UPN. Until FOX gets its act together,I will give it a D.When they cancel The Simpsons and King Of The Hill and Malcolm and if they don't get any real shows then I'll give them an F.

Fox can do one of either four things to be watchable IMHO:

1. Become a 24-hour news channel with no entertainment programming. The Fox News channel is the most friendly to those with conservative viewpoints compared to the "Big 3" networks IMHO.

2. Show only classic television (like TVLand does) all day.

3. Hire people from the Parents Television Council and put them in executive positions.

4. Sell itself to PAX.

(Imagine a world with no Married ... with Children, The Simpsons, Beverly Hills, 90210, or Fastlane. In the immortal words of John Lennon, you may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one.)

FX,FOX's sister network, tried running reruns at one time, showing reruns like Life Goes On, Trapper John M.D.,Picket Fences, but that didn't work. Now FX only shows movies and numerous times of day reruns of Ally McBeal and The Practice.I think that M*A*S*H and Married With Children are still on FX,but not as often, because M*A*S*H is going to Hallmark in the fall, and Married With Children will eventually be on another channel, either Nick at Nite or TV Land, more than likely in the next couple of years. And quite possibly Beverly Hills 90210 and Melrose Place will end up on SoapNet.

That pi$$es me off to no end. That was a good show, solid as the Simpsons. But FOX didn't give a crap about it.

Screw FOX. The only good things they've done for me lately is that Game Show special in March of 2000.

And that "300th" ep of the Simpson's wasn't the best anyway.

"Andy Richter Controls the Universe" and the other canceled sitcoms would have had the ability to live on forever in reruns. Whereas reality shows aren't going to be rerun twenty years from now. In the year 2035 people will look back and wonder if FOX was around in 2003.

Talking FOX

My ambition is to someday control all of FOX, including the movie market, and start making some better stuff. Reality tv is crap now, it was ok at the start, now there's so many everyone really is getting fifteen minutes. You can't keep track of the reality tv phoney-celebrities. I am pissed with FOX for cancelling family guy, I hope they'll bring the show back to life! I will own Fox, I must own Fox, I deserve to own Fox! Now!

At this rate they certainly will not. There newest attempt at a reality series, having America vote to total strangers to be married, is insane. They have no quality shows what so ever, with the exception of "American Idol" which I think is a unique show worth watching. Of course they're trying to fancy it up this year which isn't too cool.

FOX can't be blamed for all this though. They don't pay people to watch this garbage, people do it willingly, and obviously they're doing it often or FOX wouldn't bother picking up more garbage. FOX is giving the public what they want, just not this public, cause I don't watch it!
