Post If there was a new Gilligan's Island, who would play who?

I got this idea from the Facts of Life message board and thought it would be a good idea. If they made a new Gilligans Island with all new people, who would play who? Here are my picks:

Gilligan: Adam Sandler
Skipper: John Goodman
Ginger: Rene Russo
Mary Ann: Sandra Bullock
Professor: Christopher Lloyd
Mr. Howell: Jim Carey
Mrs. Howell: Rosie O'Donnell

Actually, they *are* doing that. It's been in pre-production for the longest time, but a new movie (for the theaters) is in the works. I heard that they were starting waaay back at the beginning from before the shipwreck. It could be pretty interesting. http://www.gilligansisle.com/movie.html
I think that page has some information. I donno if its the corect URL but if not just go to the main page and find it from there. The site also has a list of celebrities that fans want to play the Castaways.

~Courtney <who can't wait for this movie to finally shoot!>

Thumbs up

I think there should be a movie, but your cast SUCKS...well, some of it....Here's who I pick to play the castaways:
WHO ACTOR FROM:
Willie Gilligan: DJ Qualls Road Trip
Skipper: John Goodman Big Lebowski
Mr. Howell: Christopher Lloyd TAXI
Mrs. Howell: Betty White Golden Girls
Ginger Grant: Famke Jansen X-MEN
Maryanne: Rachel Leigh Cooke She's all That
Professor: David Duchovney The X-Files

If they're gonna do it, let's do it right...
Make a decent movie with a good script...
DOn't make it a mockery of itself, a la brady Bunch Movies.

In my plot...The castaways are stranded and while they are trying to find a way to escape, they all discover reasons to want to stay, so their plan (a Professor contraption called "the Rescue Machine") is sabatoged, but noone knows why.
Throw in a love triangle ...(Ginger/Maryanne/Professor)
Play up an Uncle/Nephew thing...
(Skipper/Gilligan)
Add two dastardly villians...
(the Howells)
A beautiful, but perilous Island,
The infamous S.S. Minnow and an ordeal at sea that makes THE PERFECT STORM look like bathtime with a rowdy three year old.

That's what I think....
WHO"S WITH ME!!!!!!!

Red face

You realize of course, that if they do make a movie, no matter who's in it, all of the relationships are going to be to the extreme:

-Mr Howell and Ginger have been seeing each other on the sly
-The Prof and Mary Ann are finally going to get together
-Skipper & Gilligan.... Well....

I expect to be in a minority-- maybe even completely alone-- among GI fans as I reveal what I would like to see in a new GI movie. GI was a parody of both real [Alexander Selkirk; the mutinous crew of BOUNTY] and fictional [Robinson Crusoe; Swiss Family R] accounts of isolation on an unknown island, done with caricatures from America. Since the setting itself was so narrow, the comedy had to be broad to surreal. But that was only for a weekly series. For a movie-- instead of continuing the overly broad comedy with sex and nasty temperaments thrown in-- why not go in the opposite direction? Develop a story which does not stretch believability to a microbe, and let both comedy and melodrama flow from ignorance among good intentions. No headhunters, no magic, no space probes landing on the island with *scientists* thinking it is Mars, no 'blowing out' a volcano with a homemade bomb... bascially, the story we can imagine GI being the spoof of.

Rene Russo - you have got to be kidding! She is not even pretty!!! I agree with the Julianne Moore choice or how about Catherine Bell with red hair like in that one episode of Jag?

I agree with the posts about John Goodman being the Skipper. He would be perfect. The role of the Professor could be played by one of Hollywood's most intelligent actors, Smart Alec Baldwin. Donald Trump would make a believeable Mr. Howell. Gilligan would have to be played by someone young and skinny. I don't know his name but the person who played the role of the son in the movie Vegas Vacation. He was also in The Breakfast Club.

How about that guy, Steve Burns, from 'Blue's Clues' for the role of Gilligan? Don't everyone start yelling at me at once now. lol. I think if we gave him a chance he's probably a pretty good actor. (No, I'm not saying this just because my friend is his cousin. lol)

Bea Arthur could play the role of Mrs. Howell. The role of Ginger could go to Nikki Cox.

[/QUOTE] Oh yeah. Maybe he could do a Gilligan. He kind of looks like a Gilligan. I mean that he's skinny and he acts a little like a Gilligan but he doesn't look really like Gilligan but kind of close.

Adam Sandler (Gilligan)As much I dislike Sandler, he really is a great choice. My first though was Jim Carrey, but I think he's
too tall. Could you imagine The Skipper (John Goodman's the only guy for the role.)
calling him his "little buddy?"

Ginger- Nichole Kidman?

Professor-Peter Gallager, William Hurt, or Jeff Daniels

Mrs. Howell- Rue McClanahan or Jean Stapleton (All In The Family. Ever hear her regular voice?)

Mr. Howell-Kelsey Grammar? (With some makeup to age him a little)

Mary Ann-Ashley Judd?

I hope this movie gets to the screen sometime
soon, it has taken forever. John Goodman is the perfect choice for Skipper. My other picks:
Gilligan: Topher Grace (That 70's Show)

Professor: Kevin Kline

Mr. Howell: John Lithgow

Mrs. Howell: Tracey Ullman

Ginger: Angelina Jolie

Mary Ann: Jennifer Love Hewitt

Tinasmylife:

I'm going to agree with you about Angelina Jolie. She looks nothing at all like Tina Louise, also Angelina is kind of on the strange side with that bottle of her husbands blood around her neck.... JMO
