another tvland LITB board question but here goes. heres mine it started out june and Eddie were having a conversation (I dont know what they were talking about though) and he was just about to go up to Wally and Beavers room (i think) and Eddie walks by the stove he then stops and sniffs what's cooking and remarks, 'It smells delicious...Whatever it is.
. what yours?.

i love all of eddie's moments. he is never ever boring when he's on screen. let me take that back, i don't like the season 1 or 2 eddie because then he was just a little troublemaker, but when he grows up and his character is retooled he is just great. he is great with his typical wise guy stuff, always full of fun and energy. but i also like when he has to show his good side, like when he suddenly does the dishes because the cleavers let him stay over or when he helps the beav with wally's suit. he hits the highest notes i think on the show, he gets more of a range than anyone else does.
great question. |

I have SO many favorite Eddie moments...they are probably all my faves!!! I have absolutely no idea what's happening with the TVLand awards, but I hope somehow they honor Ken Osmond. He really deserves an award.

Eddie Haskell deserves a category all his own as a sitcom character. Never been anyone quite like Eddie before or since. He's the Mick Jagger or the or the Elvis Presley of sitcoms. He's a legend. Eddie got reactions out of everyone he came in contact with on the show, and from anyone who ever viewed the show. You'll hear a difference of opinion from people about charactes in sitcoms. Some will say they liked, didn't like, could take or leave, so and so on. Or they'll say that the actor or actress wasn't convincing or memorable in their role. When it comes to Eddie Haskell, though, you'll always here the same thing, "The guy was a crackup, and ya gotta love 'im".

Ken Osmond does deserve a special TVLand award! Every "Eddie moment" is a classic. The minute he enters a scene, I know it will be priceless!

Agreed!
He should have a category named in his honor, like "Eddie Haskellest wise guy" or something. And my favorite Eddie moment: EDDIE: I would have stopped by sooner, but I had to go see my girl. JUNE: Oh, you have a girl Eddie? EDDIE: Oh yes ma'am. She goes away to boarding school. My father says that's a pretty good indication she has money. JUNE: Oh, is that so? EDDIE: Yes ma'am. My father says it doesn't pay to waste time with people who don't count. JUNE: Well it was nice of you to stop by anyway Eddie. Has anyone noticed how most of the really classic Eddie moments happen between him and June? They had a "special" relationship.

And we know how funny it is when Eddie is actually in a scene. What can be equally as funny sometimes is when just a reference is made about him, usually by Wally. One of my favorites is when Wally made reference to the time when Eddie showed up to an ROTC meeting wearing a German helmet!

I think the thing that made Eddie and June so funny was the fact that June saw right through him and he knew it so he was always working extremely hard with her to try and pull the wool over her eyes. My favorite line was this:
Eddie: Gee, your kitchen always looks so clean. June:Why, thank you Eddie Eddie: My mother says it looks like you never do any work in here. Classic! |

that's funny, sami.
i think the other element to that is that june is sometimes caught off guard and almost falls for the phony charm and then eddie takes it one beat too far and wakes her up again. but it's a great dynamic between them. ward just has no patience for eddie. neither does beaver. |

Another Eddie moment I like actually envolves Ward, not June. Remember the one where the tire on Ward's car goes flat and Wally and Beaver secretly have it patched?
June sets the phone down and goes to get Wally. Ward picks up the phone. WARD: Hello? EDDIE: Hey Wally, did you get that crazy flat tire fixed before your old man came home and caught you? WARD: What tire is that Eddie? EDDIE: Oh...uh...Hello Mr. Cleaver. WARD: Hello Eddie...What's new? EDDIE: Oh, nothing sir. I have to go now, I think I hear my mother calling me. I love how Ward says "Hello Eddie, What's new?"
