Cool Real ER's.

Have any of you been in a real emergency room before? I've been there quite a few times, both as a patient and as a visitor. I thought it was quite boring. It was nothing like on TV.

I was there as a patient once and i dont particularly remember it....

but once i went to the hospital to see my mom and we walked by the er and there was some lady screaming about her cigarettes and there were security guards holding her back...that was pretty cool.

Yeah. When I was a baby I was in the hospital every fall and spring with the croup until I was five. They would put me in this oxygen tent.

i volunteer in the er every wed. it's very, very boring. it's not a trauma center and the security is really tight. there's bullet proof windows and everything everywhere. all i do is file stuff. and the nurses are bitches and they make you wait for ever when you want to give them a damn patient's insurance, and then they say you're too slow. but, when they're with the er clerks (the people i work with) they're funny. the most blood i saw was mine, from a paper cut. once there was this crazy lady and they were doing something and she kept screaming "NOOO!! NO COLD WATER! IT'S EVIL I TELL YOU! EVIL!!!"

I was there about October when my gramma got in a motorcycle accident, pretty boring...but we're not in a very big city, or hospital, definitely not as big as County, so it was pretty uneventful...and I was in Harborview Medical Center's ER in Seattle one time, it was pretty boring too, but they pretty much have it all blocked off so you can't actually see into the actual Emergency Room part...it was just pretty much Triage and stuff like that...

what's really annoying is every time a patient comes in the clerks have to like page the triage nurse and they go "triage now, please." and it just gets annoying.

Yep...I've been to them before on my fare share of visits. It's really hectic. We have 2 main hospitals, but I like Baystate a lot better. It's like the second biggest in the state or something. It's a trauma center, and sometimes there is so many people that you get there and sit there for 8 hours.

My ER is cool with me because I got in every single time in just minutes even though they were non emergencies. Oh, but that's because I was about the only one in the waiting area! (Actually one time it was flooded on a Sat. night, but I had bad burns on my hands so they took me right in.) It's a pretty small area compared to Harberview which I seem to see them doing a story on someone there in the news every night.

Obviously I saw nothing that weird except once when I was already in the room one lady could be heard all the way down the hall who sounded like she was well, "emotionally distressed" and had to be restrained. My doc was caring for her so I waited forever until she was alright. Another time as a visitor I heard a trama come in, but I didn't see anything close up of course.

I live in a REALLY small town too! Have you heard of Waterville? It's like right in the middle of the state, it's tiny!

No I haven't and I've lived here my whole life! But then I'm really lame with knowing about other parts of WA besides the west side. Would you believe I've never even been to central or eastern WA! According to the map, the furthest east I've been in WA is Auburn!

I don't know if you've heard of the twin cities--Centralia/Chehalis. That's where I'm from. (BTW, sorry for getting OT you guys. )
