Lightbulb Black and White vs. Colorized

I want to rerecord some of the blackandwhite episodes on NAN because I accidently cut out some dialouge. Do you think I should rerecord them with Ted Turner's "Colorized" version, or stay up one night and rerecord them off NAN? The ones I'm talking about are "Diamonds are an Ape's Best Friend", "How to Be a Hero", and "The Return of Wrongway Feldman". I'm asking this because I have never seen the colorized first season and want your opions on it.

Which version you decide to tape is really a personal preference. For instance I have all the episodes on tape from N@N, but starting tomorrow morning I'm going to tape the 'Colorized' version of the 1st season eps off TBS as well, so I have both. Some people despise the colorized episodes and some love them because it makes the entire series look the same. I personally have always found them kind of neat because you can only imagine how hard it was to colorize something that was originally black & white.

As somebody else suggested, taping two versions can also give you a more complete show. TBS tends to "butcher" shows more than N@N does, but often in different places. Take for instance Andy Griffith. It moved to TV Land last year and now they show the epilogs at the end of episodes, which TBS/WGN omitted, and cut more from the program itself to do that. So if you had the TBS/WGN versions on tape you could pair TV Land's epilog with it and have the most complete copy of that series available. The same can hold true with taping Gilligan from different channels.

Thanks Chad. When We get cable again (Just
Moved) I'll watch the colorized ones and see if I like them. But I think I prob. will go with NAN because I'm more of a night person.

No problem, I'd suggest taping both versions if you're only looking for a few episodes. Taping either one is going to be hard though, because now N@N airs Gilligan ONLY at 5:00am in the morning (Sun-Thurs), 2am on Friday, and not at all on Saturday.

Thumbs up

Hey- that's so cool- I honestly haven't been keeping up with the show, and I didn't know that TBS has been showing colorized versions. I agree- tape both versions.

Yes TBS started showing the Colorized Versions this morning. They look alot different from the real color ones though, you can clearly tell the difference. Tape one and you'll see what I'm talking about.

Oh, you know what- I taped one of them. It looked interesting, but I honestly think that Turner should not have messed with those black & white eps.
