Talking Newest worstest sequel!

OMG! I read this today in a celebrity magazine from France, I bought it in a specialist bookshop in the UK, the magazin is called
'Lips!' Heres the article now, I got it translated online, and I can read some french too:
___________________________________________________
After the recent success of the hit movie Chicago, Director Rob Marshall and screenplay writer Bill Condon are currently in the planning stages of a sequel to Chicago. Condon mentioned the possibility of the sequel in a brief satellite interview with Lips! The current working title is Chicago 2: Jazz, Liquor and Death. The outline of the first draft that is almost completed has Billy Flynn, portrayed by Richard Gere, killing a competing lawyer, and this time trying to pin it on, you guessed- none other than the merry murderesses, Roxie and Velma. Roxie and Velma then go about trying to prove innocence, and at the same time Roxie is actually expecting a baby. That is all Bill would reveal to Lips! magazine, stating that there are many more interesting plot twists to the film, and that he wants to keep them under wraps for now. This news of a sequel will greatly upset Chicago fans, myself included. I would've thought Marshall would've known better than to follow in the steps of Grease and The Rocky Horror Picture Show, to try and match the success through a sequel. This is one film that, if it gets into production, I will reluctantly watch. I only hope all the actors will choose to reprise their roles, instead of having a badly thrown together film with a bunch of stranger-newcomer actors. Surely will be a film with a lot less Razzle Dazzle, and probably not All That Jazz, but nevertheless, can you blame Hollywood?
Signing off.

Lloyd D'Iheran, reprting for Lips! Magazine

Can you believe it! I agree with this author, the directors are trying to milk the whole film, it definitely won't work, because it won't have all the writing and creative talent as the stage play. Everyone will groan when this flop comes out, a sequel should in most cases only be made, if the stage play had a sequel, or if the stage play writers will be assisting the writing, but of course- Bob Fosse is unfortunately deceased. It will be like Grease 2, no original storyline, or writers. Everyone please join hands and pray this film won't be released. I still have the magazine, I'll try get a scan of the cover and article here soon. Bye

I agree with you. It seems Hollywood likes to milk everything even if that means ruining the legacy of the first film.

I saw in another, smaller magazine, that if the sequel script gets thje go ahead within three months, that filming may begin in Early december, as long as the cast reprise their roles. Expect this to be released sometime september 2004. I am trying to find my magazine copy, so far all I've founds the cover, the mag the last time I saw it was water damaged alot from when I moved.
I think Hollywood might fall into their previous trap of slapping a 2, a returns or a son of, along with a cheap script, and call it a sequel.
What I would like Hollywood to fall back into is a good thing, start making more modern musicals, It's hard to watch a slow film, musicals make the movie fly by, so make more!
