Dont need to learn any specific language but 2 years of one language is our required amount to graduate. My school offers Spanish, French and Latin.

The only languages my HS offers are Spanish and French. (It's a little town in the middle of farm country; we're not that advanced.) I only have to take 2 years of Spanish, but I'm in the middle of my 4th year.

you can find materials for learning gaelic through a really neat place called audio-forum. They boast that many government institutions turn to their materials for language training, and I havent seen a catalog since I was 18, but man, they offered everything!
I'm not longer in high school, but I studied spanish and german in high school, french in college, and then czech, polish, italian, russian, and serbo-croat by myself. Too hard to learn with self-study, but oh well, gives you a lot of awareness. I would like to start in on spanish again, like spanish for healthcare pros or something. For those in high school, if you take 4 years of one language, that usually translates into 2 yrs. college language, which is a requirement for most bachelor degrees. A lot of people really can't stand languages, so if you're one of them, knock it out of the way now and save money.

crud, does that even mean anything? I wish they had programs in my little town. my main focus in any language (self-teaching) was to memorize vocab words everyday ... i remember in french class, for our extra credit french table thingie after class, they asked me some vocab words in polish or czech - cant remember - and they laughed so hard at the ones i could remember because they were all words i chose to learn, so they reflected my personality. it was stuff like ashtray, lighter, cookie, tea .... dorky scattered stuff. Ah, the good old days! <G> |

![]() Everyone loves that word. But yea, it's always nice to see someone else who understands what you're saying. I've known Polish because it was my first language but it's always cool meeting someone who knows it or has learned it. I can't even relate to anyone here anymore cause all it is are typical English speaking Americans. Oh well.... |
