No, but it was common while I was in school. (50's-60's) My second grade teacher put tape on my mouth one day. I hated her!
My husband got paddled several times. He said that he deserved it!

And no, it is not allowed in Michigan as far as I know.

I've never gotten one. I don't know if it's legal in Ohio, but I hope that it isn't.

Not in New York, but we used to in India. The teachers hated my brother because he was such a pain and of course, they all thought I was exactly like him. Soon (and after some unjust punishments) they realized I wasn't even though I was very opinionated...

Nope. I don't think it's legal any state that I've lived in.

I never did. No-one at my school ever did, so I don't think it's allowed here in Regina. I don't think it's even allowed in Canada. If it ever was allowed in the past like the 60s, 50s, 40s, 30s or before, I wouldn't know.

OMG YES! Well not me in particular but from K-5th grade our principle kept a paddle and bars of soap in her office...yeah and she used them. I remember once someone scratched me by accident and she brought them into the office and screamed at them and made him put the bar of soap in his mouth...She was mean, but it did keep peopel disciplined. I'm sure there were alot more stories but I tended to stay away from her.... yeah and this was in the 90's so im pretty sure it was illegal...But she was a nun, so i guess she got away with it

Yes, twice and I got revenge on both of the perpetrators. I didn't expect it either time. The first time it was the grammar school principal. He made the mistake one day after that to yell at a bunch of us who were playing baseball on the school grounds. It was the first week of summer vacation. We had a right to be there and he had no right to try and chase us off. He got shouted down with words of every color by the bigger boys. He stomped off with steam coming out of his ears. We continued to play baseball. A most satisfying victory!

The other paddler was one of my middle school teachers. He seemed to be an okay guy before that. His reasoning for doing that to me was so trivial that I couldn't believe he did it. I thought he must have been joking until I felt the sting of the paddle. I dont know... he must have been having trouble at home or something. I took matters into my own hands that time. I gave him a flat tire. I don't if he knew that I did that or not.

I've never been padled, but my 4th grade teacher would yell at kids and tell them they were stupid and not paying attention if we didn't give the right answer in class.

Umm..noo.. I went to school in the 90s. the 1990's. If they were to do that today, parents would be suing left and right for abuse. If you ask me, I think some of the lil kids need it! You didnt see the kids of the 50s acting like they are now.
