Exclamation Gloria Asserted Herself To Mike Also

In response to the post Edith asserting herself to Archie,I think that Gloria asserted herself to Mike as well. For instance, when that girl brought her son who she thinks that Mike was the father, and Mike and Gloria argued about what if it was his son, they would take care of him the best way they could.
Also, in the episode where Archie and Edith and Stephanie go to California to visit Gloria and Mike for Christmas,Gloria wanted to sleep in her bed,but Mike wouldn't let her,and had to sleep in a chair, and she called him an a** and when Mike wanted to know what she said, she said you're an a** like a hissing snake. That was when they were separated and came back just for Archie and Edith's sake and because it was Christmas. The crowning touch was when Mike told Gloria ever since she was gone she got fat,she slapped Mike and went into the bathroom crying

This is a posting I do not agree with because if you remember the character Gloria was a strong supporter of women's lib. She always stood up for herself when it came to Mike. She was the woman who allowed her husband to tie her hands, seal her lips and bind her feet to a corner where she only talks and moves when he pulls the string. You have to remember Gloria constantly gets on Edith for not standing up to Archie, i.e. Battle of the Month and the All's Fair episodes.

The only thing I got bothered about Mike and Gloria's relationship was that Mike had a tendency to talk to Gloria as though she was stupid and uneducated. Gloria, in my opinion, was very smart and would had pusued a college education if she had not got married. She sacrificed that to see that her husband get his college education so he can have a good paying job. If you saw the episode Mike's Friend is where he treats her as though she was inadequate and it turned out that Mike's friend enjoyed Gloria's company.

I agree with you about Mike treating Gloria like a stupid person, and yes I saw that episode with Mike's college buddy, and I feel like Mike should have let Gloria have fun with his friend no matter if he thought that Gloria was stupid and that her conversations were boring to him. That is news to me,because I always thought that Gloria and Mike had a good relationship during the show's run. No wonder they got a divorce!!! As Archie would say, Mike was indeed a Meathead!!! Yes, Gloria could have gotten a better job as well instead of working in a department store selling makeup. I agree with you 100 percent on that one. And yes, Gloria could have stood up for Mike and told him to get a job,but she didn't. I wish that when she slapped him that Christmas night she should have kicked him out of the apartment as well.

I meant to say she was not a woman who allowed her husband to tie her hands, seal her lips and bind her feet to a corner where she only talks and moves when he pulls strings.

In all Gloria was a good wife who truly loved her husband and was willing to put her own desires aside for him to achieve his education and goals.
