Penny and Beaver

what did you all think of the episode farewell to penny?. I just got finished watching it and I thought it was priceless to hear Beaver say some thing nice to Penny and he said that he actually said he liked her and she gave him that pecil box. but in the end Beaver still hates Penny. pencil box; $0.99. fare well party decorations; $15.00. hearing beaver actually say some thing nice to penny woods;priceless!

I saw this episode a while back and I really liked it. I almost thought that Beaver would actually like Penny, but then after she announces she's not moving it goes back to them hating each other. To tell you the truth, I liked Penny. I thought she was a whole lot better than Judy Hensler! She did have that attitude, but not as bad as Judy's. I kind of wish she would've stayed on the show a little longer.

a big ditto to that! I know they liked each other though. that's how elementary kids express their love, by either hitting each other or badmouthing each other.

Penny wasn't too bad, but both actresses and both characters-- Judy and Penny-- were good in their own way. In fact, on seeing this ep again, someone says that Beaver has sat by Penny almost his whole life (that's far from an exact quote, I'm sure), so I think the audience is meant to assume that Penny and Judy make up a single character. It seems to be well-known that Jeri Weil, who played Judy, was not willing to go along with the idea of hiding her adolescent development in order to keep her looking younger, and that is why she left. But the part of Penny, though like Judy in being the arrogant female foil to the class and especially to Beaver, was acted on a better level, IMO.

2 roles on LITB which were overacted were that of Judy and Lumpy. And neither of them would have been as funny had that not been the case. Considering that, as well as that they do rather resemble each other, should Lumpy's sister in Beaver's class have been Judy instead of 'Violet?' That might have made for some good situations.
