I thought Bebe left cheers for only 4 episodes. She left Frasier in the girl in the plastic bubble and came back 4 eps later. I don't really consider that leaving.

1. Great move
2. BEST move!
3. I don't think they had much of a choice, seeing how Coach died. Anyway, good move.
4. BAD move!
5. I think we should have gotten to see her in the final episode.

1. Good move for her personally, bad career move, and I liked Diane and would've loved to see her character expand even more.
2. Not a Kirstie fan, so I would say bad move, but i did like how the character was so different from Diane, I just couldn't get into her.
3. Woody did an excellent job of filling in when Coach died. With his death he obviously would not be replaced, but Woody was a great character, so good move.
4. I also don't think you could consider Bebe having left Cheers, but I think the storyline that went with that was ridiculous, and did not care for that at all.
5. I liked not seeing Vera, although I am curious to what she "could have been" but I think keeping her secret from the bar patrons and the audience was a clever idea. Norm was free to be Norm.

You did see Vera. Whenever we heard her voice or saw just her body, it was Vera. the voice was played by Bernadette Birkett who is actually George wendt's real life wife. If anyone remembers the episode "Fairy Tails Can Come True", the one where Cheers has like Halloween and Cliff falls in love with tinkerbell, that's Bernadett. So basically you did see her.

Don't split hairs NORM. The viewers never really saw Vera and that was by design. Anyway....

1. Shelley Long leaving Cheers--Bad move for her and Cheers. I loved Sam and Diane together.

2. Kirstie Alley replacing Long--Bad move. I never cared for her character.

3. Woody Harrelson replacing Coach--Good move. Wish it didn't have to happen though.

4. Bebe Neuwirth leaving Cheers--They gave Bebe a lousy sendoff.

5. Never seeing Vera--Good move. Added to the mystique.

1. bad. I missed Shelley so much! Gosh I couldnt stand it anymore when Kirstie took over. Shelley did have much success in her movie career. Post Cheers
2. Bad, The character of Rebecca Howe was so annoying in about the 9th season. I can't watch Cheers past that point.
3.Good. I actually like Woody better than coach.
4.Bad. I loved Lilith and then she left. But the Frasier Lilith relationship kind of ran its course.
5. Good. It is more fun when there is a mystery character. To like Guess who it is and what they look like. It made Vera more mysterious.

1. Bad, I guess. I liked Diane better than Rebecca, although I don't know how much longer the show would have continued to be great with Sam and Diane married. Although I'd have loved to have seen Lilith and Diane interact more. DAE is my favorite episode for that very reason.

2. Kirstie did a fine job, I just didn't like Rebecca all that much. So bad, I guess.

3. Good? I loved Coach, liked him better than Woody, but since the actor died, I think they found the best possible replacement for him.

4. Awful, terrible, atrocious. They did a really shoddy job in breaking up Frasier and Lilith, of course, being the die hard Frith fan that I am, I didn't want them to break up anyhow. Although I suppose the good part is that Bebe Neuwirth got to do more musicals. I LOVED her in "Chicago".

5. Good. No matter what Vera looked like, she wouldn't have been as funny as everyone built her up to be.

1.BAD MOVE ON HER PART BUT IN THE END A GOOD BREAK FOR THE SHOW. THE SAM/DIANE STORYLINE HAD DEFINTELY RUN ITS COURSE AT THE END OF THE 5TH SEASON. AS MUCH AS I LOVED THEM BOTH IT WAS DEFINTELY TIME TO END THE WHOLE THING.
THE NEXT LOGICAL STEP WAS TO HAVE THEM MARRY WHICH IN MY OPINION WOULD HAVE KILLED THE SHOW. AND YOU COULDNT HAVE DIANE HANGING AROUND CHEERS WITHOUT BEING INVOLVED WITH SAMMIE CAUSE TO BE HONEST HE WAS THE REASON SHE STAYED AROUND THE BAR SO LONG. DIANE/SHELLEY LEAVING DEFINTELY IMPROVED THE SHOW CAUSE ANYTHING FURTHUR WOULD HAVE BEEN BEATING A DEAD HORSE.
A LESSON THAT "FRIENDS" RATHER UNFORTUNATELY HAS NEVER LEARNED WITH ROSS AND RACHEL.

2.GOOD MOVE. REBECCA/KIRSTIE BREATHED NEW LIFE INTO THE SERIES. HER CHARACTER WAS A COMPLETE TURNAROUND FROM DIANE AND I DEFINTELY FEEL CHEERS PROSPERED BECAUSE OF THE CHANGE.

3.EXCELLENT MOVE THOUGH ONE THAT WAS DICTATED BY FORCES OUTSIDE THE PRODUCERS CONTROL. BY MAKING WOODY BASICALLY SIMILAR TO COACH BUT STILL AN ORIGINAL CHARACTER UNTO HIMSELF. AN EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT JOB BY THE PRODUCERS.

4. INDIFFERENT. LILLITH IS A GREAT CHARACTER AND BEBE AND KELSEY PLAYED OFF EACH OTHER TREMENDOUSLY BUT LIKE OTHERS SAID HER ABSENCE WAS ONLY FOR ABOUT 5-6 SHOWS AND IT ALSO OPENED UP NEW STORY AVENUES FOR FRASIER AND OF COURSE PAVED THE WAY FOR THE "FRASIER" SERIES.

5.GOOD MOVE. I ALWAYS ENJOYED UNSEEN CHARACTERS ON SITCOMS--I.E. SARAH ON ANDY GRIFFITH, CARLTON THE DOORMAN FROM RHODA AND OF COURSE MARIS FROM FRASIER.
COULDNT YOU ALL AGREE THAT ACTUALLY SEEING JENNY PICCOLO ON HAPPY DAYS WAS A BIT OF A LET DOWN?

I agree with whoever said that Vera should have been revealed in the final episode...my idea would be to have a teaser where Norm walks in to the bar as usual, but only one female patron is there to call out his name. After a long crane shot, we see a close up of a knockout, someone Sam would commit illegal acts to impress, sitting where Norm has held the fort for the entire series. Then Norm walks up to her and says "Vera, get off my stool." Cut to the opening credits.
