After the 85-86 season it definitely turned into the Michael J. Fox sitcom. It became unwatchable during the 87-88 seasons because the majority of the episodes was centered around Alex and they became repetitious. I was glad when Meredith spoke up to the producers about her reduced role on the show when originally her and Michael Gross were the leads. The best seasons of FT was from 82-84 and 88-89. Those seasons showed the Keaton's as a family and that should have stayed as that.
It would have been nice to see the way Steven and Elyse dealt with Alex and his continual obsession with success and money. |

I haven't watched since it was on TBS, but I agree. The All-Alex episodes got old fast. I can't stand it when characters are just shoved to the sidelines. Good Times, is another example of this happening. Family Matters too, although Urkel added to the show, and didn't really take away (well, until the family angle disappeared). I definitely think it should've been more evened out, like the last poster said. Personally, being young (18-22), I prefer to watch the adults, and if written well, the teens. I don't know why, lol, I just do.

OF COURSE IT DID....WHY DO YOU THINK THE SHOW ENDED WHEN MICHAEL J. FOX DECIDED TO LEAVE?
GIVE THE PRODUCERS CREDIT FOR TAKING ADVANTAGE OF THE BEST PART OF THEIR SHOW. |

Whoa! That is not a good picture of Patricia Heaton. I've seen her in better days!
As for the topic of this thread...I do agree. Even when the episode was supposed to be about one of the other characters, it was still "The Alex Show." While I like Michael J. Fox (Spin City and the Back to the Future movies), he annoys me on Family Ties.
