Default Anyone know why Fred, Lamont or Esther was not in the Grady Pilot?

I saw the pilot for the spinoff Grady and i was very confused why Rollo was inside the Sanford Home without Lamont and Fred. Lamont or Fred are not seen at all in this episode. Anyone know why?

Oh is *that* what that was? It just aired this evening. I was gonna start a thread about how lame it was. I had no idea they had plans for a Grady show.

I dunno, I still think the episodes from the beginning to about early 1974 were the best. Watching this particular episode tonight showed early signs of fatigue in the series. (eg. my thread about Lamont & later episodes)

Yeah, the Sanford and Son episode that was aired tonight on TV LAND at 6;30pm was the Grady pilot. I was just surprised Fred or Lamont wasn't in the episode. There is a Grady episode when Fred comes to visit Grady at his daughter's house in Westwood. I would like to see that one day.

It would have been nice for Fred and Bubba and/or Lamont to come over to Grady's house and gave him a housewarming gift. I have that episode of the Grady pilot in the Columbia House Video Collection of Sanford and Son where Grady gives his daughter and son-in-law that picture of the naked lady that he puts over the fireplace. That was funny!!!

In that Grady episode I noticed 2 other 70s sitcom stars:

Heywood Nelson (Dwayne on What's Happening) playing the grandson.

Howard Hesseman (Dr. Johnny Fever on WKRP in Cincinnati) playing the art professor.

Default grady

i thought it was done well enought to not needed other established characters. introducing the new characters was needed and done appropriately.

I still thought it was kind of weird that FRed was not seen and was supposed to be Grady's best friend. Maybe not Lamont but you defintely have to include Fred. But here is my question, Why Rollo? Didn't make much sense to me.
