Default trying to identify an episode

hi, I watched an episode yesterday.
Now I am trying to find back more info about this episode.
I once downloaded an episode guide from the internet with 202 episodes, but I cant find this one.
I tried the words POLICE, RAPED, ATTACKED without results.

The episode was that a strange man was in the house and tried to rape(?) attack Edith. Gloria wants she will go to the police.
Edith does not want that. Finally she does, because she can stop the man to attack other women. Mike has NO long hairs, so it must be an episode of later date. Anyone know the number of the episode or better keywords to search in my episode guide?
Thank you!

Default Re: Edith's 50th Birthday

The episode you're referring to is called "Edith's 50th Birthday." It's a two-part episode that aired on Oct. 16th 1977. I think the episode guide number was either episode(s) 158/159, 160/161, or 162/163. It could one of those numbers, or around those numbers. Check the guide again by typing in "Edith's 50th Birthday," you should be able to find it then. Hope this helps!

hi kristi, thank you for your kind and fast answer!!!

I found this:

160. EDITH'S FIFTIETH BIRTHDAY (ONE HOUR)
Edith misses her birthday party when a rapist holds her at gunpoint in her own living room.

But, the episode i watched yesterday was not a ONE HOUR one.
It was a less than 30 mins episode. And there was nothing told in the episode about a birthday.
There was also not anything about a "gun" and nothing about the "living room"

Archie asked Edith what she did to defend herself (the talk is in the bedroom) and Edit answers that she was baking a cake, and throwed that cake in the raper's face.
Archie answers: "good that you had such something heavy"
Some more info: Mike and Archie are going to inspect the house for searching that man. They find his clothes in the wardrobe near the frontdoor of the house. Later the 2 policemen tell they found a man in only a t-shirt. Edith is very very confused of all what happened, and she is washing again and again, and ironing again and again. Archie is getting crazy of that.
Gloria advices Archie to be very sweet to Edith.
When mike and Archie are inspecting the house, they decide that Mike inspects the kitchen for searching for the man, and Archie is waiting near the telephone. When Mike enters the kitchen he falls with his face in the cake, that Edith was baking and makes a remark about the taste of that cake.

Do you think I gave you enough info so that we could perhaps find out the right episode? Perhaps you are right what you wrote, I dont know. I guess you know more about AIF as me :-)
Thanks for your cooperation!
Greetings!

This is a very classic episode!!Edith was baking the cake to bring over to the party and the intruder comes in and she is attacked by him,he unzips her blouse and pushes her on the couch, and Edith said that the cake was burning in the oven, and then that was when Edith threw the cake at him and pushed him out the door,(the longest applause ever on the show),and she ran over to Gloria and Mike's and Archie was there worried about what happened to Edith, and that was when Edith said she was attacked.

P.S. It originally aired as a one hour show, but for syndication it was a 2 parter.

hi bravesfan, thanks for your reply.
I think its clear now!
I have seen yesterday part 2. (and missed part 1!)
The episode started with a crying Edith and asking Archie what happened. And it was in the house of mike and Gloria.
Any idea of the episode number?
Thanks!

According to ClassicTV.com,it was episodes 163 and 164,since they are going by the order that they are in syndication. I have an old TV guide that says that it was a 1 hour show when it first aired in 1977,so episode 163 was the first part, and episode 164 was the second part.

Talking Re: Edith's 50th Birthday

Yep, you saw Part 2 (and I'm sure you'll be to see Part 1, it'll be on again in the next rotation of episodes). Part 1 is very intense, I was glued to my TV when I first saw it. I couldn't even take a phone call, I had to call the person back...it was that intense.

Hi Bravesfan and Kristi,

I checked the numbers of the episodes. I read this:
-------------
163. ARCHIE'S BITTER PILL (PART 1)
Archie takes a few pep pills to keep pace with the increased demands of running his own business and winds up with an amphetamine addiction.
164. ARCHIE'S ROAD BACK (PART 2)
A despondent Archie retreats to his bedroom, until Harry offers to bail him out with a partnership offer for the bar.
-------------
My knowledge of English language is not so good, but i dont read any recognition with the episode i watched :-)

I am very glad a TV station here in Holland started broadcasting AIF again. Sad i discoverd that too late. But now I record every day one episode on video. Last night there was the episode of the ski vacation of mike, so that Gloria had to go to the party without mike.

I recorded on video for years ago many episodes (about 30)
of the numbers under 100. Mike still had long hairs, was still living with Gloria in the house of Archie, and Archie was still working at the docking station. Their neighbours were the Jeffersons.

Its my personal opionion that the first 100 are better than the next 100 episodes. I find the first 100 more naturel and the last 100 more "overdone" But sure I will always be a fan of this great series. For me this series is a great example of cultural an social history from the seventies. Great we can enjoy them again and again!

Check out www.ClassicTVHits.com. That's where I got the information that Edith's 50th Birthday episode was episodes 163 and 164.
