Question Have You Ever Noticed Florence In Later Seasons???

I just noticed in later seasons about Florence!!! Originally, she was very funny especially with her exchanges with George, but then after the 1978-1979 season, she suddenly changed, she wasn't as funny as before to where she began to get serious or something!!! It was the same way when they traded Mike Evans for Damon Evans,Damon Evans was not the same Lionel at all,Mike Evans was funnier as Lionel both on the Jeffersons' first season and on All In The Family, but with Damon he acted very serious and dramatic.Sure he had his moments, the term paper episode, the one where he gets drunk before his graduation. But it wasn't the same!!! I wished that Mike Evans would have gotten married to Jenny instead of Damon Evans!!! Actually, why did Mike Evans leave the Jeffersons anyway??? And then he eventually came back in the 1979-1980 season!!!

Comments on both, please!!!

I've noticed that too. Perhaps it has something to do with Florence suddenly losing her accent?? Compare Florence in 1975 to Florence in 1985.

Mike Evans left the Jeffersons to work on the Good Times Set as a director, writer, or producer. I'm not sure which one.

Compare the way she says things in the early years to the way she spoke in the final years. Things like "Mista or Mister" The way she says her r's. Sudtle things. Also, listen to the way the writers structure her dialogue. Implying that she's a sassy maid with some education. She's more proper in the later seasons.

Everything about the Jeffersons in 75 is different from 76-85. In my opinion the Jeffersons started on Jan 18, 1975 and ended in Jan of 76

Wow, that leaves out so many good episodes from all of the other seasons. I personally love almost every episode from the 1978-1979 season and the 1981-1982 season, far more than some of the 1st season episodes and what about A Case of Black and White and Louise's Friend from the 1976-1977 season.

I'm sorry, there's just too many episodes from the other seasons that are just way too good. For me The Jeffersons should have ended at the end of the 1982-1983 season. By that time, the show was totally white washed.

To me it ended right after the two part episode, the Breakup-after that-it's done. I know the original Lionel returned , but by that time the Original George was gone.

I agree that Florence changed just as George changed. They both became too soft. I believe Mike Evans was one of the creators of Good Times.

I have notice the way Florence style of talking has changed, but she has always been very funny. She kept Mr. J in check throughtout the ten years (lol).
