Default Funniest thing happened at school today...

I just HAVE to tell you all! In the lunchroom, (I have "D", the last lunch period) the lunch ladies cooked too many French fries! They started to put these huge bins of fries on an end table, and MOBS of people went to grab as many as they could! I just got one, because that was all I could eat, but my friend, Jesús, grabbed four packs... and finished them! The catch to this fry-bake: you had to purchase ketchup packets!!! What do you think? Does your lunchroom do crap like this?

The cafeteria at my college will sometimes give away free stuff.

Sad

I remember when I was at school, sometimes the dinner ladies would give away free food cos they had a surplus. Sometimes I'd take advantage, sometimes I wouldn't.
In a way it depressed me - some people can barely afford enough food to keep themselves alive and yet school kids are getting free burgers and whatever cos the dinner ladies made too many.
It's sad.

That's really bootleg... my school can't afford to do that. Massachusetts is under WAY too many budget cuts. Too bad, too. We are going to miss out on a lot of fun things in highschool

the fries were super-unsalty, so they tasted like greasy faux-mashed potatoes! you needed ketchup or cheese one to give it an "edible" flavor!!! luckily, i had cheese!

ha ha... alabama (where i'm at) has been under a democrat for four years (don siegelman) and he had NO plan for education (other than an "education lottery", which was shot down like swiss cheese!), so our 50-year-old school buildings have no money to replace our 13-year-old textbooks... and i'm talking LITERALLY!

Hah hah, what our state NEEDS is a Democrat. We've had republicans for what, at least 10 years? We've had William Floyd Weld, Paul Cellucci, then Jane "Not So" Swift, and now we have W. Mitt "Mutt" Romney.

And to think, Shannon O'Brien could have won, been the first woman-elected governor, and been the first Democrat in years, but she blew it.

Down here, in AL, though, Democrats have beliefs like:
---We should give people money to NOT work... "Hmm, I wonder how much money I'm going to make NOT working next year!"
---Rich people and cronies should get "special" favors (Siegelman had a lot of cronies!)
---Give more money to the people who have NO desire to work, and less to those busting their butts to provide for the family!

I'm sure in MA, beliefs are different, but the Democrats do not fund for education down here. Also, since Siegelman, the average AL family income is $12,000 yearly. This is down over $3,000 a year from our last Republican governor, Fob James, who rose that income from about where it is now.

AL's economy seems to be much better under a Republican governor, because that's when the job market opens in AL. Also, Republicans do not fund as much welfare money; therefore, people get up and go to work. Almost EVERY one of these people who don't like working live in 20+-yr-old single-wide trailers, and, mark my word, in Dale County, AL, we have more trailer-homes than fastened-to-the-ground homes!

As I said, it's different with each region of the country. This is how bad it is here in AL, though. Who can afford to give away free food? Lunch prices are high ($2.00 +)!

Eric

I was thinking the same thing.

Anyway, back to the original question...sometimes on Fridays during 6th hour, the last lunch hour, the lunch ladys will give away free smoothies.

My school never gives away free food. They haven't for the 11 years I've been in school and that may never change.

It's a wonder they gave away food today! They will save food forever! I will go to the á la carte at school (we have á la carte and regular lunch lines) and see food that was on the regular line LAST WEEK!

As for the political debate, sorry! I'm still torked off at Siegelman... we've had a new governor for 18 days, and we're being re-birthed!

I know what you mean. I live in rural Alabama, and we get absolutely no funds whatsoever. We have to fundraise for everything extracurricular.
