Default I think episode George's Family Tree is supposed to be listed as epsiode 2, NOT 3

The reason I think the episode George's Family Tree, which is listed as the 3rd episode, should be listed as the 2nd episode because in George Family Tree, Helen and Tom gives Louise a house warming gift and that wouldn't be in the 3rd episode in my opinion. It makes more sense if Louise received a house warming gift in the second episode instead of the 3rd episode. Plus I checked (epguides.com) and they have George Family Tree listed the 2nd episode which is a more accurate episode guide in my opinion.

I don't see what the big deal is.

But, George's Family Tree was the 3rd episode (production #103) to be taped but was the 2nd episode to have actually aired. Thus, CBS, had decided that airing it as the second episode was most appropriate. However, I feel that airing episodes in production order in syndication and cable makes more sense, especially when you take into consideration the effect the 1980-1982 writers strike had on the airing order of the episodes of this series as well as One Day at a Time, Alice and Diff'rent Strokes.

A Friend in Need (#101) was the first episode taped followed by Louise Feels Useless (#102) and then George's Family Tree (#103). The 1st season DVD has them in production order.

Here's a question for you. what were the tape dates of these episodes? I know that "Lionel the Playboy" taped in January 1975, and I wanted to know about these three episodes.

They probably started production in the fall of 1974 maybe around December

I just found out from an old Wireimage picture of Franklin Cover and Roxie Roker taken as they were doing their on screen kiss that the episode "A Friend in Need" was taped on December 13, 1974.

Yeah sounds about right since they were not seen that much on AITF in December of 1974.
