I heard on the radio yesterday that John Lennon was fined for copying the "He's So Fine" tune by the Chiffons. Anyone else know this?

It was George Harrison who wrote My Sweet Lord.

It was George Harrison who was accused of stealing that tune for My Sweet Lord. Personally, I never thought of "He's So Fine" while I was listening to My Sweet Lord! But I suppose the writer of the former would know his own melody! To me it is nit-picking

I think he did plagiarize it, but subconsciously. I think he had the melody of "He's So Fine" in the back of his head when he wrote "My Sweet Lord."

This song has nothing risky about it

I think the titles, when sung, sound very similar, but that's about it.
My Sweet Lord...

...He's So Fine.....almost the exact melody, but the similarity ends there, to me anyway.
Tunes, notes, whatever, are bound to be recyled sooner or later. It seems much ado about nothing.
