- “Jimmy Kimmel Live” Grows by 50% in Both Total Viewers and Adults 18-49 throughout its First Week

Premiere Week National Ratings (1/27/03 - 1/31/03):
In its first week, ABC’s late-night series “Jimmy Kimmel Live” hit the ground running, attracting an average audience of 1.75 million viewers in a competitive late-night landscape. In fact from Monday night to Friday night, “Jimmy Kimmel” saw its audience build by 50%, from 1.4 million viewers to 2.1 million viewers. The show saw an identical pattern among Adults 18-49, growing by 50% from Monday to Friday (0.6 to 0.9).
· “Jimmy Kimmel Live” came out of the box as a real competitor with other late-night network programs. Head-to-head from 12:30-1:00 a.m., “Jimmy Kimmel Live” beat CBS’ “Craig Kilborn” by
33% in Adults 18-34 (0.8 vs. 0.6), 67% in Men 18-34 (1.0 vs. 0.6), and 14% in Men 18-49 (0.8 vs. 0.7), and was on par with the established “Kilborn” among Adults 18-49 (0.8). Head-to-head versus “Conan O’Brien,” “Jimmy Kimmel Live” tied the NBC show among Men 18-34 (1.0).
· Head-to-head (12:00-12:30 a.m.), “Kimmel” even challenged late-night veteran “David Letterman,” coming within two tenths of a rating point of the CBS talk show among Men 18-34 (0.7 vs. 0.9) and within three tenths of a rating point among Men 18-49 (0.8 vs. 1.1).

Conan has the funniest show in that timeslot.

As far as ABC is concerned, I actually enjoyed "Politically Incorrect". It was far better than "Jimmy Kimmel Live". If anyone is interested Bill Maher, the host of PI, is gonna have a new show, very similar to PI, on HBO later on this month!

I wasn't too crazy about Kimmel's new show the only time I saw it. I hate Bill Maher though and was glad his show got cancelled. IMHO

I really don't think "Jimmy Kimmel Live" will be around for long. Late night comedy is a tough nut to crack, and I just don't think he looks comfortable in his new job.

Plus, he has got to get some better guests.

Kathy Griffin? She's so starved for attention, I'm surprised she hasn't shown up on the Bowflex infomercial.
