Sorry for dragging up an old thread.
I saw this episode last night and it was very interesting. Has anyone else seen this one? David Stone quits his successful job joins the New Age religion and is last seen wandering the Arizona Desert "trying to slay the beast" which is one of the religion's ways of dealing with your dark side. His remains were found in another state I believe. I'd love to know more about this case. |

I'm glad you've brought this one up, it doesn't get discussed much on here. Well I certainly don't think David Stone met with foul play I doubt his family does either. The fact that he voluntarily left his life behind and was acting strangely and his remains were, I believe, found in a deserted area. He was probably wandering and died from exposure or something like that. It sounds similar to the Devin Williams (semi driver who left his rig and wandered off and remains were found later) and John Cheek (businessman who was under a lot of stress and disappeared and was reported to have been seen hitchhiking) cases where for whatever reason or maybe some mental condition decided to leave their life behind. Also Adam Hecht (unless you believe he was murdered) and Kristi Krebs could be put in this category as well. UM seemed to profile a lot of these type of cases.

Those type of cases are so interesting and they keep us guessing the simple question: Why? I guess we'll never really know why David Stone was acting so strangely before he died.
One witness said that he saw David in shorts when he should've been wearing something warmer. Why did David leave behind his Rolex watch and two quarters? And more importantly, volunteers who were looking for him couldn't find any signs of him being there, no food wrappers, soda cans. Did David not bring any food with him? Maybe he starved to death. |
