Post How did Howell Know?

Remember the ep about the rock group ,The Mosquitos? Well early in the story Mr. Howell hears them playing and he thinks it's the radio. He says he does miss civilization but he does not miss the sound of the Misquitos. Now how did Howell know exactly what group was playing the music? Was he secretly a rock'n'roll ,and specifially a Mosquitos, fan?He should have said he did not miss the sound of rock'n'roll and not have mentioned any groups. Mind you again this is before he learns the group has landed on the island. Clearly a writer's error!

Talking

The episode opens with Gilligan in his hammock, listening to the radio. The radio announcer declares the Mosquitoes to be America's #1 rock and roll group. It is entirely possible that Mr. Howell had heard this often-featured group on the radio, and could identify their signature "sound." The sitcom format presupposes that viewers know that they don't see the characters every minute of every day. Thus, writer's error is an inappropriate accusation.

I still think it's strange that Howell knew exactly what band was making that noisy song on the radio but ifyou insist that he just became acquainted with their music by accident aLL RIGHT. Now I'll tell you what definitely was a writer's error on he show. In the space camera ep the radio announcer reports that they've discovered palm trees on Mars before the scientists take their first actual look at Mars (actually the island).
