Thumbs up Un-seen Episodes

HEY SANFORD AND SON FANS: LISTEN UP!!!!!!!!!
I REMEMBER READING ABOUT A PRO ATHLETE, (I THINK A BASKETBALL PLAYER) BACK IN THE EARLY 90'S IN SPORTS ILLISTRATED THAT SAID IN A INTERVIEW THAT S&S WAS HIS FAVORITE SHOW AND THAT HE PURCHASED THE UN-SEEN EPISODES FROM TED TURNERS COMPANY WHEN TED STILL HAD THE RIGHTS TO S&S.(THIS IS WHEN S&S WAS ON TBS SUPERSTATION). THERE ARE IN FACT OTHER EPISODES OUT THERE THAT HAVE NOT AIRED SINCE THEY WERE ON IN THE 70'S.
THERE ARE ABOUT 50 OR SO S&S EPISODES THAT ARE OUT THERE SOMEWHERE. IF SOMEONE COULD SHED SOME LIGHT ON THIS FOR ME, SO THAT I COULD PURCHASE THESE EPISODES, I WOULD BE VERY GRATEFUL!!!!!!!

I don't know if theres any truth to the claim that Steve Smith bought S&S from Ted Turner. However, He doesn't own any so called lost episodes. There were 135 episodes total & all have been in syndication for years. This sounds like another one of those ridiculous rumours like the one that claimed Bill Cosby bought the rights to Amos & Andy & Our Gang so nobody could watch them.

I read once that Redd Foxx said that there were 145 episodes of S&S; not the 135 we all know of. Maybe there is something to this. It would be like finding the holy grail!!

There were 135 that aired originally, It doesn't seem logical that NBC would film 10 or more episodes and not air them. If some hard evidence is found proving otherwise, I might believe it. By the way, the rights to Sanford & Son are still held by NBC. If there were any episodes that didn't air originally, it's highly unlikely that Turner would have gotten them. Unaired episodes very rarely turn up in syndication. One exception was an episode of Alfred Hitchcock Presents called The Sorcerer's Apprentice, it never aired during the original run of Alfred Hitchcock Presents but was included in the syndication package.

Default TBS Special

Maybe he was referring to the TBS special where Fred is in the gold bathtub.

Where you get the idea that TBS owns the rights to Sanford & Son is beyond me. The rights are owned by NBC not by Ted Turner. If you're referring to syndication rights, TBS lost them when Tv Land picked up the show.

Steves NBA.com profile states: Loves Sanford And Son has every episode on tape. Since Steve Smith did in fact play for the Hawks, theres always the possibility that he was allowed access to a production room to copy the tapes or he hired someone to do it for him. However, an ordinary person like us wouldn't have a snowball's chance in hell of getting any tapes from TBS or any other station for that matter.

Why is Steve Smith hoarding the lost S&Son tapes? What is he trying to gain? I used to like him as a player but this is really some BS. We should all be able to enjoy them.

Steve Smith isn't hoarding any lost episodes, Ted Turner got the 135 episode package when he obtained the syndication rights & Smith simply had someone dub them for him.
