Default when Grady subbed for Fred....

Hey all,

What was your opinion of when Grady stood in for Fred?Personally,I don't think the show was quite as good when Fred wasn't there.Fred was a necessity to the show.Grady was funny, but no replacement for Fred. What do you think?

I agree with you. But I do like when Grady says "well googly goo" or something like that.

I've got two different answers. You gotta remember that I've watched Sanford and Son when it was on TBS and caught the show again when TVL first showed S & S. I hated the Grady episodes during those years. Then I caught them on a local station and realized Grady made a good substitute. No, he isn't Fred. Whitman did a good job subbing for Redd.

I don't think Grady was nearly as good as Fred, and those episodes where he was substituting for Fred were pretty weak, although they had their moments. It's quite obvious in certain episodes that the stuff Grady was doing was written for Fred, since in previous episodes where Grady was just a minor character, he played a pretty straight forward guy. In the ones where he was subbing, he had a lot of insults that were quite like ones Fred would have made.

Only a couple of Grady episodes are really worth watching, but considering the reasons WHY he was thrown into the role, I say it turned out nicely.

Hi vintagevgirl, not only do we agree on the abscence of Fred Sanford but now I see we have ELVIS in common I really enjoy seeing his picture as I scroll down the page. He is too beautifulI am fairly new here, infact I can just do the basics on the computer! How did you get the picture of Elvis and Ann-Margaret by your name? It looks so nice!

When you want to put a picture under your name, you go to the CHANGE AVATAR option at the very end of the EDIT OPTIONS page. Then you type in the URL of the picture(provided that the picture is just the right size,it cannot be more than 125x125 pixels).I just happened to get lucky in finding this right size pic online.I really don't know what you would do if the picture was larger, there's probably some way to adjust it,but I have no idea how.I hope that helped some That's so cool that you like Elvis - he was super hot, wasn't he?

I can usually cut some of my pics up in my Paint program. You know how you have those small boxes and you can click the box and make the picture smaller through there. I'm not explaining it the best way, but yeah I do it in Paint.

Foxx was in the middle of a huge contract dispute due to the fact that he felt he should be making as much or more than the producers. Things got so bad that he opted to sit out for half of Season 3, but eventually was more or less forced back into the role, after the producers took certain measures to make sure that he couldn't work elsewhere.

While Foxx was insanely funny, after hearing about all of this, in addition to other "shadier" things about him, I'm finding it a little hard to look at him the same way when I watch S&S. I'm aware that everyone has their flaws, but it makes it hard to watch him knowing that most of the problems he experienced during his life were his own fault. I still love the Foxx though, don't get me wrong.

If you look at S&S after Redd Foxx was forced to come back was not the same. His acting got somewhat weak and he seemed pissed off the remaining seasons that the show stayed on.
