Default The Cunninghams vs. The Taylors

It's been done before, but why not do it again. Does anyone want to have a custody case? Over who really "owns" Richie?

I Like the Andy Griffith Show, But its really no contest. Ron Howard will always be Richie Cunningham to me. I Even call him Richie sometimes by accident when talking about the Andy Griffith show.

That's a good question, WD! I get so confused, I don't know who has custody rights of him. I still see him as Opie who I loved watching growing up. But, also, he's Richie. Boy, what a difficult question. I'm stumped.

For years, my answer would have been "He's Opie!" Without a doubt. Now, I'm starting to automatically look at him at cry, "Richie!" Is it possible that he has a clone?

Or, maaaaaaybe..
Chuck was really Opie coming back to haunt Richie and thats why they "killed" him off. I I wouldnt doubt that you'll find Otis and Barney in that closet too if you look deep enough. I bet Aunt Bea had something to do with this...

Ok ok.. this is a complete different court case.

But look! Ralphs dad was on Andy too!! Hmm... intresting..

Scene: Chez Cunningham

Joanie: Richie, Richie. Help me pick out a baby picture for my yearbook.
Richie: Have they started that already? Boy, I remember my senior yearbook. Except the yearbook office ruined my picture, they said that they didn't get my baby picture. Mom and Dad sent it, right Mom?
Marion:Er...Howard?
Howard: Right...right...we sent in your picture, Richie. They just...didn't get it.
(noise comes from outside)
Person: Now just wait a minute, I've come here to see my boy, Opie!
*Fonzie walks in holding Andy Taylor's collar*
Fonzie: Mr. C, Mrs. C, this man here is nutso. He's been wandering around outside the house trying to see some guy name Opie.
Andy: Now look here, Opie's my boy!
Marion: Howard...
Howard: Look here, Sher- er, I mean...man who I do not know. There's no Opie in this neighborhood, so why don't you just go back to May- er...whereever you're from, and stay there!
*Andy looks past him and sees Richie*
Andy: Opie....
*Andy starts to walk to Richie, but Marion jumps in front of him*
Marion: NO, NO! He's Richie! He's not Opie Taylor from Mayberry, he's Richard Cunningham from Milwaukee!!!
Andy: Now, ma'am, I know we all know what's right...he's Opie..my Opie...from Mayberry.
Richie/Opie: Mom, Dad, what's going on here?
Andy: Opie, my boy, your mother died years ago, but...I'm your father and I'm back to take care of you
Richie/Opie: But...why are you in black and white?
Andy: What? (looks at himself) Oh sorry, going from one decade to another is not easy. Anyway, you're my boy...Opie!
Joanie: What kind of man would name their son, Opie?!?!?!
Marion: Now Joanie, stay away...he's a foreigner
Joanie: Where's he from?
Marion: North Carolina
Joanie: Mom, he's trying to take Richie away!
Howard: Listen here, Mister Sheriff Andy Taylor, this is my family and you're not splitting us up, ever!
Andy: Well, you listen here, Mister I'm-a-Hardware-Salesman-and-yet-I-have-this-nice-house Cunningham, I will see that you don't split family!

oooh, suspense, who wants to take over?
