(I have been reading fics for awhile and decided to post one of my own I hope you all enjoy it. This takes place the day after the episode Less than Perfect ended…)

Side-effects

-At the hospital-

Jo: Are you ready?

Blair: Yeah...let’s get out of here and go home

Nurse: walks in Blair don’t forget to change your head dressing twice a day. I want to see you back in a week to remove the stitches.

Blair: Okay I’ll see you then Blair stands up still a little unstable from the knock on the head. Joe notices but doesn’t say anything

Jo: Come on Blair

Blair: Of course...I’m coming. As Blair approaches the car she is suddenly filled with fear, but quickly dismisses it and gets in

-Back at Home-

Jo: Come on Blair everyone’s anxious to see you. Blair opens the door. SURPRISE!!! Tootie, Nat, Bev.., and Casey are all there to greet Blair

Casey: I’ve missed you so much. He hugs Blair and kisses her all over her face

Blair: Not now Casey, but I’ve missed you too.

Bev.: So Blair, how does it feel to be home?

Blair: Wonderful

Tootie: We notified Langley and they said that you can take your exam as soon as you feel ready. We didn’t want you to have to worry about it so Nat and I took care of it.

Blair: Thanks girls I really appreciate it. I guess I better start studying.

Bev.: Nonsense Blair you can do that later you need to relax

Blair: Beverly that’s all I’ve been doing, I really will feel better if I can just get back to normal. Blair turns and goes upstairs before anyone can say anything

Bev.: Jo, is she all right?

Jo: I don’t know she was really quiet on the way home. She’s probably just still a little shaken over the whole incident.

Bev.: Your probably right. Okay girls come sit down; Casey, please join us. Let’s just leave Blair alone for now… *Jo sits down but can’t get Blair off her mind

Nat: So have you heard from Pippa and Andy….fade to upstairs

-Upstairs Blair sits alone on her bed with tear stained cheeks-

Blair: Why does it still hurt? I wonder where Jo put my medication… While looking for her medication she replays how she felt on the ride home, she didn’t like being in a car again
While looking for her medication she comes across a mirror she quickly covers it not wanting to see her bandaged face. Ever since she had showed Jo and then Casey she couldn’t stand the idea of anyone else seeing it

-Back downstairs the girls finish eating and are chatting on the couch-

Casey: Well I’m going to head out tell Blair I’ll call her tomorrow

Girls: We will

Bev..: Thanks for coming. Goes over to him. Don’t worry she’ll come around.

Casey: Thanks…Bye

Tootie: Poor Casey, he waited so long for Blair to come home and she left him and went to her room

Nat: Yeah, she hasn’t come down and I haven’t heard anything. Do you think she’s okay.

Jo: She probably fell asleep. hoping that was the truth but doubtful I’ll go check on her…

Bev.: Okay but if she’s sleeping just leave her alone…

Jo: I will she turns and goes upstairs

-in the bedroom-

Blair has found her medication and is taking it when she hears Jo come in

Jo: Blair! Where are you?

Blair: In the bathroom! I’ll be out in a minute. She opens the door trying to conceal the look of pain on her face.

Jo: You okay?

Blair: Fine, but I think I’m going to lay down for awhile. The trip home must have worn me out. *She walks over to her bed but before she reaches it she trips. Jo catches he.r

Jo: Are you sure you’re okay?

Blair: Yes Jo! She says a little irritated not meaning to be I’m just tired…

Jo: Okay, I will let you rest She quietly closes the bedroom door and goes back downstairs.

Bev: Is she okay?

Jo: She says she’s just tired. She was doing something in the bathroom though before I walked in.

Bev.: Well let’s just keep an eye on her.

-Two days later-

The girls are all back to life as usual Blair has remained quiet studying for her make-up exam and the girls are all a little concerned.

Blair: Morning All!
Bev.: Well Good Morning Blair how are you feeling?

Blair: I feel great. She lied she had been sick most of the night

Nat : That’s great Blair !

Blair: So what has everyone been up to. She keeps her head down and brings her hands up to massage her temples. Everyone notices

Bev.: Blair honey is something wrong ? There’s no response.

Jo: Blair is there something wrong with your head? Blair slowly lifts her head to reveal a tear-stained face

Blair: I can’t get it to stop. She’s crying. It hurts so bad someone make it stop.

Bev.: Blair! Rushing to her. How long has this pain been going on?

Blair: About three days it got worse last night. I was sick.

Jo: Why didn’t you say something? Concern shows on her face. We need to get you to the hospital.

Tootie: I’ll call and let them know we’re on our way. Jo and Bev. support Blair who can hardly stand and Nat goes to get the car. I don’t want to get in the… Blair collapses before she can finish her sentence.

-At the hospital-

Bev.: Is she going to be okay? What’s wrong?

Doctor: When we stitched her head there was obvious swelling, but we expected it to subside. It didn’t it formed a clot and has been putting pressure on her brain.

Jo: Is she going to be okay?

Doctor: She should be awake in a few hours and we’ll know then

Nat and Toot: Thanks Doctor. He leaves

Bev. : Why didn’t she tell us that she was in pain?

Jo: You know Blair she’s not one to get emotional. She was probably scared and didn’t want to worry anyone. I should have noticed though we sleep in the same room.

Tootie: Don’t blame yourself. Blair is not easy to keep track of.

Nat: Never has been…Remember her dating spree? Boy, was she hard to keep up with then.

Jo: Yeah, and all that was to hide her feelings about Cliff.

Bev.: She’ll be fine girls. Let’s go get something from the cafeteria then we can see her.

Jo: I’m going to stay here in case there’s any updates.

Nat, Toot, and Bev.: Okay.



-in Blair’s hospital room-

Blair: She’s just coming to and Jo is sitting next to her bed. Jo, what happened?

Jo: You collapsed Blair. There was a swelling in your brain that was causing pressure and it was too much for you. The doctors had to remove the clot. How do you feel now?

Blair: A little tired but the pounding has stopped.

Jo: Why didn’t you tell anyone you were feeling bad?

Blair: I didn’t want to worry you guys I figured it was natural after a head injury. Besides, I’d already scared you guys and didn’t want to do it again.

Jo: Well you did you worried all of us and scared Casey too. Blair you’ve got to be open with us or we can’t help you

Blair: In tears. I’m sorry Jo I didn’t mean to worry anyone I was just scared.

Jo: It’s okay… She hugs her. Don’t cry, we just love you and we’re always going to worry when something happens to you.

Blair: I know, but it’s nice to hear. Yawning. I’m tired now so I think I’m going to get some rest. Tell Beverly, Tootie, and Natalie that I’m sorry and I’ll visit with them later.

Jo: Okay..get some rest

Blair: Thanks Jo! Jo turns around to say your welcome and Blair is already asleep so she closes the door.

-Two weeks later-
Blair has recovered and undergone plastic surgery to minimize her scar. Everyone is happy to have her back to her usual self.

Blair: Jo I wanted to thank you for everything. I was so embarrassed to be afraid of the car and you worked through it all with me. I really appreciate it.

Jo: Your welcome, I’m just glad your feeling better.

Blair: Oh No!

o: What?

Blair: I almost forgot I’m meeting Casey at the Center in an hour. I better get ready.

Jo: You think you can make it in under and hour? Jo says teasingly

Blair: Haha…very funny.

-45 minutes later-

Blair: Coming down the stairs. I’m ready. The girls turn and look.

Nat: You look good Blair.

Tootie: Yeah, Casey won’t be disappointed.

Bev.: Have fun !

Jo: Yeah, Blair you’ve earned it.

Blair: Thanks, all of you for everything. I’m so glad I have friends like you guys. She grabs her keys and heads for the door. I’ll be back soon… She stops realizing the similarity this whole scene had to the night of the accident. The girls sensed it too and all walked over and hugged her. I love you guys…
