Exclamation Rue's GG wardrobe on eBay now!

Several of Rue's outfits from Golden Girls are up for bid on eBay right now. Earlier today I spoke with the seller, who is a good friend of Rue and Morrow, and he was very nice. There are some great--and recognizable--pieces. Each auction has a photo of Rue posing with the item up for bid. The auction goes until Feb. 10. As per Rue's request, a portion of the proceeds will go the Farm Sanctuary, an animal welfare organization. You can check it out @ http://cgi6.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...wpics=1&stab=0

It's pretty cool!

Katie --

Well, some of the things look familiar, but some just don't ring any bells with me. Obviously they are legit, but there is one thing...

He has at least one item auctioned twice.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=3309601898

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=3309602047

Aren't these the same thing? Or are there two? And I am pretty fanatical about TGG and I don't EVER remember seeing this one.

Again, I'm NOT trying to be rude about it. Obviously Rue owns these clothes, and for a big fan it would be something to get. But I wonder if they were all worn on TGG?

Haha, yeah, I noticed that, too--the same jacket being listed twice. I'm sure that was a mistake, as one starts at $100 and the other starts at $150, lol. That jacket does sort of ring a bell to me. I have no clue as to when, but I'm picturing her wearing it during the first season (though I could be off), and I'm thinking it was worn as a pajama top. But there are a lot of things that she only wore once, in one short scene. I have a sweater that she wore on GG for a total of about 5 minutes, so that might have been the case with some of these pieces--which would just make them forgetable. Some of them I can recognize right off because she wore them in more than one episode, or for a longer period of time in an ep.

The seller said for this auction, everything is from Golden Girls, and wrote a letter for authenticity stating that it was worn on GG. Most of the stuff I could recognize spot on, but like you, there were a couple that I just don't remember at all, which makes me wonder if Rue got mixed up on what piece went with what show for a couple of those. Either that or it was something she wore really quick in a short scene that got cut by Lifetime.

Gosh, I have seen these episodes so much that they actually run non-stop in my mind, and I just can't right off recall any of these outfits. I am sure they are somewhere, but they just don't jump out to me right off the bat. At least we know they are authentic Rue McClanahan merchandise. This could be a fun game though. Lets see who can identify the outfits that are online.

I could easily recognize most of them from Golden Girls. The only ones I don't remember seeing are:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...category=18841

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...category=18841

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/ebayISAPI.dll...oDisplayType=2

Any takers?

-Katie

EDIT: Actually, the 2nd and 3rd ones do look a little familiar, but I'm not completely sure. And I just can't place that purple sheer robe at all.

None of those look at all familiar to me. Not a bit. I mean, I think we've all seen all 180 episodes about 20 times, but none of them really ring a bell at all.

LOL, sorry to reply to myself, but maybe some of them don't look familiar because they were outfits worn on The Golden Palace? I mean, even though it says Golden Girls. You never know? lol.

Really? A lot of those outfits jumped right out at me from seeing them on GG. It's funny, though. I watch GG mostly for Blanche, and kind tend to focus on her, so I remember a lot of her outfits and whatnot. When I saw her in a play up in Cape Cod in '01, she wore a nightgown and a robe from GG and that was the first thing I noticed when Rue entered on stage, lol. But if you showed me an outfit that Dorothy or Sophia wore, I doubt I'd be able to pick it out of a crowd if my life depended on it, haha. The only thing I can specifically picture Rose wearing is the airplane sweater, the denim dress worn in the opening credits and that green vest sweater with the bit of embroidery. And I'm thinking of a dress that reminds me of a swimming pool, lol. Sophia... A periwinkle dress (I just remember it cuz I thought the color was nice). And Dorothy... hmm... I actually can't think of anything specific that Dorothy ever wore except for that peach colored dress when she and Blanche bought identical ones, LOL!!!

Quite a few of them (not the three you listed) look very familiar, I don't pay close attention to wardrobe really, lol, being a guy and all, but I do recognize most of what they have on eBay.

LOL, and the thing is, I can picture her wearing them--and I can even picture her sitting on, say, the chair on the right side of the living room (haha), but I can't recall any of the specific episodes these were worn in. Though I do recall this being worn multiple times: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...category=18841 including in the episode where Rose meets her father (the Monk) and Sophia checks into the hospital for something. I'm sure she wore it in other eps, though. I recall a yellow shirt underneath the jacket.

I've always really, really liked this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...category=18841 She only wore it in on episode, but I've always thought it was a gorgeous piece. It was flattering on her, too.

Well, I can tell you that red sequin outfit looks like it could be the one from the 2nd season episode, Love, Rose.

I thought it looked like the one she wore in the GRAB THAT DOUGH episode.

I just noticed also that there have been no bids. Hopefully it will pick up for him.

In Grab That Dough she wore a red sequin dress (it was very similar to that outfit, though).

It will be interesting to see if anything sells. I think the starting bids are way too high. A better way to have done this, if he absolutely doesn't want less than, like, $150 for each piece would've been to have started bidding ultra low, at $9.99 or something and set a reserve. A lot more people would be more apt to bid on something that was $25 than $150. And then you'd certainly get at least a few competitive bidders who would engage in a bidding war, nibbling at each others bids and thus, drive the price up. I talked to the seller on Friday, but he's an experienced seller in high end collectibles, and I, well... I'm just an eBay bargain shopper, so I didn't want to say anything, lol.

I don't know if anyone remembers, but about a year and a half ago a place called Star Wares put a lot of Rue's GG and personal wardrobe up for bid on eBay. They wouldn't have a reserve, but their opening bids started at $9.99/14.99/24.99 (depending on what the outfits was). Their auctions usually got a good many bids which drove the price up.

Hopefully business will pick up for him, lol.
