Question Most famous crime in your City or State?

I'm watching The History Channel and The Brink's Robbery is being profiled.

The question is, What's the most famous crime that took place in your city or state?

In Boston, as mentioned, there was the Brink's Robbery in 1950. This was later made into a movie starring Peter Falk.

There's the infamous Boston Strangler in the 1960s.
This was made into a movie starring Tony Curtis.

In Chicago, probably the John Wayne Gacey murders in the 70's or the Brown's Chicken massacre in the early 90's.

That was awful.
Then's there Pamela Smart, the schoolteacher who had an affair with her student and had him kill her husband. Nicole Kidman made a movie based on that murder...can't think of the name of it.

Umm...a few months ago, a little ways away from me, there was a pretty big crime. This 15 year old girl had had a baby with like...a 32 year old guy. Well, his like ex-girlfriend who was like 25 was jealous and the guy was in jail for some reason or another, not for the kid, something else. So the 25 year old chick went to the girls house in the middle of the day. The girl's little brother and mother were out there along with her. And her mom's telling her to go inside fast, and the 25 crazy chick goes and shoots the 15 year old in the back, and she ya kno...falls and drops the baby. And THEN the chick went up and shot the baby in the face. Yea...and then made a break for it in her van, but some neighbor started chasing after it, despite the fact that the crazy chick was shooting at him, got the license # and they captured the chick. But it was all really sad. The 15 year old, and her baby died...and the 15 year old was gonna go back to skool and everything. Yea, I kno her sister...kinda.

O, and the sniper thing. That happened in MD.

The last major crime in Holdrege came in August of 1989. We had a shootout. There were two escape convicts with there girl friends (from Colorado),the girl friends stole a helicopter to get there boy friends out of jail and then they stole a ryder truck and ended up in Holdrege they drove around shooting at people, houses, businesses and the police, I was lucky because I was outside at the time and they came within 1 block of me. the had a stand off on East Ave. and it ended when one of the bad guys shot his own finger, that was Holdrege's last crime it made natianl news and they had a big deal about it on Good Morning America, I also still have old news papers of this event.

As far as the state goes this fall in Norfolk Nebraska three guys robbed a bank and shot and killed 5 people,it was the woest bank robbery in the states history.

In the city I live (Fort Worth, TX) last year there was a woman who was driving home drunk late one night and ran into a homeless guy. He was lodged in the windshield but she drove on home and left him there (the car was in the garage, of course) even after he died.

There was a 16 year-old girl from Warren, MA who was abducted back in June 2000. They've never found her or her abducter.

There's also Whitey Bulger.

Did that movie happen to be "To Die For"?

here is another horrible crime that happend in Nebraska and it was the murders by Charles Starkweather and Caril Ann Fugate. I remember in my freshman history class we watched a video of a news deal on that and my history teaher was a little boy when that happened and he lived in the town that most of that happned in, (Lincoln) and I remember him saying that they shut school down and poeple would be afraid to go outside they locked there doors and hide for a couple of days. Here is the story about this whole thing.

Charles Starkweather commenced his reign of terror across the Nebraska farm lands on December 1, 1957 when he murdered Lincoln gas station attendant, Robert Colvert. After robbing the gas station, Starkweather kidnapped Colvert and drove him to a secluded spot where he executed him with several shots to the head.

Almost two months later, Starkweather, while waiting for his girlfriend, 14 year old Caril Ann Fugate to return home, murdered her mother and stepfather with a rifle. When Caril returned home, he strangled Caril's two year old sister in her bed, after which he went to the kitchen where he prepared sandwiches for lunch.

Starkweather hid the bodies at various places outside the house. The two stayed in the house for two more days turning people away under the pretense that everyone was ill.

Caril's grandmother became suspicious and called the police. When they arrived Charles and Caril had already left. The police found the bodies and began the search for the killers.

Before their capture Charles Starkweather would kill seven more people. The first was a high school couple who stopped to help Starkweather. He had driven the car onto a muddy road, getting it stuck. He shot the boy and attempted unsuccessfully to rape the girl. In anger he shot and killed her too.

Shortly thereafter, Starkweather shot and killed a friend, August Meyer, to obtain more guns and ammunition.

Starkweather and Fugate returned to Lincoln where they entered the home of C. Laur Ward, a wealthy steel executive. Starkweather forced Mrs. Ward and her housekeeper upstairs where they were tied up on a bed and then stabbed to death. Ward returned home and was shot and killed by Starkweather as he entered the house.

Starkweather and Fugate took Ward's car and drove to Wyoming. Twelve miles outside of Douglas they found Merle Collison taking a nap in his car alongside the road. Starkweather shot the sleeping Collison nine times in the head.

Thinking someone needed help an oil worker, Joe Sprinkle, stopped. Starkweather attempted to kill him, but Sprinkle wrestled him for the gun. A deputy happened by and Fugate ran to him yelling, "It's Starkweather, he's going to kill me."

Starkweather bragged about the killings and claimed he did them all in defense of Caril Ann.

Starkweather was executed by electric chair on June 25, 1959. He was 19 years old. Fugate was sentenced to life in prison, but was paroled in 1977.

That's it. Thanks. It was loosely based on the Pamela Smart story. They changed the names and her profession. She wasn't a schoolteacher but a newscaster or something like that.
