I used to watch Hazel with my grandmother and have since picked up watching again on TVLand. I can't remember- how have Hazel and Dorothy known each other for so long? Hazel refers to Dorothy's childhood several times and vice versa ???

I am pretty sure Hazel was the maid for Dorothy's family as Dorothy grew up.

Yes you are wright Hazel worked for Dorothy's family and watched her grow up. There are several refrences to when Dorothy ( Mrs. Baxter) was a teenager and dating George ( Mr Baxter) Hope this answers your question. Mr B Hazel's biggest fan!!!
