Default We got to see the Bunker back yard!

When Archie, Stephanie, and Mrs. Canby are playing ball, I think this was the only time in all 13 years that we saw the Bunker back yard. The two episodes shown today were better, although sad when Archie referred to "my poor late wife, rest her soul". Even without Edith, the show was still superior when it got away from the bar and more into family type plots. And Archie calling the coach a chauvenist was a nice twist!

Yeah, I was thinking the exact same thing. It seemed kind of odd seeing the backyard. We went this long w/o seeing it, so it was just odd to finally see it.

The back yard was seen previously in #28” Hiring the Housekeeper” which was not aired by TV Land.

Last time I saw this ep was 1986. I don't recall the backyard.

I just again saw the ep, tonight. Doesn't look that big. The backyard I mean.

It's not that big, but I don't believe many backyards in Queens are. The point is we got to see it.

I watched my tape of “Hiring the Housekeeper" again the other day. The back yard is in the Episode. Archie chases a lady who does not want the Job out the kitchen door. She leaves Polly and Her Husband who are in it their yard tell Archie that Ed's sister Ellen Camby just separated from her husband and might be interested in the Job.

Too bad the Jeffersons couldn't have been worked into this somehow so we could have a crossover, such as making Mrs. Canby a friend of Florence or someone else who works in the Jeffersons apartment building.

That would have been sweet.

I was glad to see the backyard. Now we know how The Jefferson's/Stivic's got to Archie and Edith's back door.

You know it's interesting. If you look carefully, at the 100th episode retrospective hosted by Norman Lear, you could tell that the Bunker bedroom set was right next to the kitchen. After the final scene in "Archie Alone" I do not recall seeing the bedroom in any other episode of ABP. My theory is that they tore down the bedroom set and made the back yard set to take its place.

That's very interesting. But Archie & Edith's room, along with Stephanie's room was shown a couple of times.
