i remember two game shows that i can't remember the names of:
1) the stage had tons of boxes on it, all wrapped up like presents. one contained a check ($25,000?) and the others all contained prizes. the host was someone who hosted many game shows over the years. i think contestants were chosen out of the studio audience. what was it called and how did it work? 2) what was the name of the game show where father-son and mother-daughter teams played video games to win prizes??? thanks! njf |

The answer to number 1 is Treasure Hunt which ran from 1973 to 1976 and was hosted by Geoff Edwards,it was created by Chuck Barris and it was as you described with the boxes and the money and all
The answer to number 2 may be Family Double Dare which ran on Nickelodeon in the 90's |

thanks, bravesfan.
you are right on #1. i just found this site the other day. you don't know how many people i have described that game show to, hoping they would know it. lots of people have called me crazy during my description. as for the second question, it was on nickelodeon but was not double dare or family double dare. this game show involved only real arcade games (like pac-man, only a bit more updated). they had the arcade games in the studio. it was weird. is treasure hunt on tv anymore? game show network? thanks again. nick |

Long years ago, they had reruns of Treasure Hunt on CBN back in the early 80's!!! I also think when the Game Show Network first came on the air it was on there!!! I do remember watching the show though, and it was a really fun show to watch, watching people look in boxes and seeing if they won $25,000!!!

One possibility is Nick Arcade. I have never seen it but it is on the digital cable network Nick GAS.

this is pretty amazing. while searching IMDB.com for the show mentioned by LucyLover22, i found what i think is the show.
it was called "Starcade". strangely, the host was the same as the host of "treasure hunt," the other game show i asked about. also, the pilot was hosted by alex trebek! anyway, starcade is on the G4TV network at 10am, 2pm and 3:30am central time. i cannot wait to watch it and see if it is indeed the same show. it was only on for one year. thanks! njf |
