Hello Family Ties Fans, I was wondering if anyone had the full series of Family ties on VHS or VCD? I am dying to get the complete series. I hope you can help.
Thanks! |

Hi JAN...,
Well, VCD stands for Video compact Disc. It is a format that will play on most DVD players and computers. It is also a lot shorter to make, if you have to encode a video file. The quality is not as good as DVD or MPEG-2, but then I am not a stickler for picture quality when it comes to things like this. I usually capture a video in MPEG-1 then in 15 minutes, I have my VCD. Anyway, you wouldn't happen to have the complete Family Ties series on VHS, would you? |

Hi Jen,
No, you aren't behind, you are just smater than the rest of us for not getting into this techno-rat race. Sure, info management is great, but with increased knowledge come increased headache. Anyway, MPEG-1 is a standard video file for computers. MPEG-2 is the kind of video file they use for DVDs. I guess it boils down to a question of quality. I don't really study this stuff, but being in Japan, one sort of has to pick it up. Let me know if you find som FT programs. |

Well, I'm in the process of tapinf "Family Ties" episodes and I'm right now taping the 1983-1984 season as it comes on Nick at Nite. I got from 1985 with the "How does Alex Sleep" episode until the "ladies Man" episode which came on this morning, but I'm missing a few.
The ones I;m missing are the last few episodes of teh final season and the very first four shows. But You can say that I have a fairly good "Family Ties" collection |

Hi everyone,
I am in Japan. They just started broadcasting Family Ties from season 3, the one when they announced the new baby. The are broadcasting two episodes a day five days a week, so they should be through season seven by the end of march or the middle of April. Maybe we can put our resources together and make a complete set. if you are interested, let me know. |

Hi,
Sorry, I don't have a lot of time to watch TV in Japan. When you come to Japan and everything is new, it is all exciting. But now that I have been here for over 10 years, Japanese TV gets on my nerves. If you like, I can look into it for you, but I am sure if I can get the program, it will be in Japanese. Is that okay? Let me know. |

Hi detective,
Well, there are several TV shows being aired in Japan now, but the most popular would have to be the most popular, in my opinion: ER, Beverly Hills 90210, Full House, Charmed, Ally McBeal, The West Wing, Boy Meets World, Stargate SG1, x files, Dark Angel. These are in no particular order and the broadcast is at least two seasons behind. In some cases much more. question, why are you interested in what the Japanese think? |

Hello, I have 91 episodes on VCD. Since the first post, I have made all the VCDs i can make here in Japan. The episodes are from Seasons 3, 4, 6. and 7. Season 3 is the only complete season. the other seasons have 4-5 episodes missing. I callled the channel that is broadcasting the show, and they don't plan to get the rest. I am willing to trade. for episodes I don't have. PLEASE LET ME KNOW!!!

I started watching family ties earlier this school year. I really want to see the episodes 'My Name Is Alex" and "Alex Doesn't Live Here Anymore". I dont have any episodes but I do have the whole Seinfeld, Family Guy, and Dilbert series so I am willing to trade some of those. I am in college so I have a really fast connection so if anyone has any of those episodes please email me so I can get them as I really want to see them.
