Back in 1995, my older sister was a fan of "The Kids in the Hall" and "The Ben Stiller Show." So when a sitcom starring Dave Foley of The Kids in the Hall came out, she was ready to tape it. I remember watching it on March 21, 1995 with my sister. It was the funniest show even from the pilot. Even though Phil Hartman was the show's big name, we were more familiar with Dave Foley. And Andy Dick was in the Ben Stiller Show, not to mention the revival series "Get Smart" the same year as NewsRadio which I watched. I have been hooked on NewsRadio since the first episode. Although I was in and out of it for the original run, now in reruns, it's my favorite show of all-time.
So what about you? What made you decide to turn on the TV and watch NewsRadio for the first time? |

I started watching sometime during the second season. My best friend, Katie, was always talking about it, so one night I sat down and watched an episode. I think it was the poker game episode. I liked it and started watching it regularly. I don't talk to Katie anymore, but I still watch NewsRadio in reruns when they're on.

The very first time I ever saw NewsRadio was in the fall of 1997, I believe. I think my brother was channel surfing one night, and stopped on Fox Philadelphia long enough for us to watch the rest of the show. The episode in question was The Public Domain, where Bill tormented Dave with all of those political satire songs. Then Vicki came on-screen, and I was mesmerized. Between the side-splitting musicals, cutting dialogue, wildly hilarious visual slapstick, and the ethereal beauty of Vicki, I was hooked. I started recording it the next day, and have never stopped. It's my favorite TV show of all time, and I will watch it for the rest of my life.

I first watched NewsRadio because I was a big SNL fan. So when I found out that Phil Hartman was on the show, I knew had to see it. Of course, it got better when I saw the pilot and discovered that the lead in the show was not Phil but Dave Foley of The Kids in the Hall.
During the original run, I sometimes tuned out of NewsRadio. But it started in syndication, I taped every episode. Still, I can't wait for the DVD. |
