I have a LOOOONNNNGGGG list of boring sitcoms. With the exception of "I Love Lucy", sitcoms are just horrible. But, here is my top ten list of boring sitcoms and why:
1) "All in the Family" (sadly changed the course of television from bad to worse forever.) 2) "Archie Bunker's Place" (like watching a train accident with a muffled laugh track.) 3) "Maude" (like watching Ernest Borgnine in drag with radically liberal views) 4) "The Brady Bunch" (this is BBAAADDD TV at its best. No wonder Robert Reed was ashamed of it.) 5) "M*A*S*H*" (War is not funny, but is more funny than Alan Alda.) 6) "The Jeffersons" (why did this show run 11 years and why was no one at CBS into mercy killing at the time?) 7) "Friends" (this is the most over-rated, over-hyped show of all time. We'll look back on this show years from now and wonder what all the hub-bub was about.) 8) "Three's Company" (the worst scripts and the worst acting of all time. I give John Ritter the award for worst over-reactor of all-time.) 9) "Married: With Children" (an embarrassment to our society. The fact this show ran as long as it did proves that the average TV watcher has the IQ of a shoe horn.) 10) "Will & Grace" (Jack reinforces every negative stereotype of gay men there is. And Debra Messing - is it just me or is she painful to watch?) |

I totally agree with you about The Brady Bunch, Friends, Three's Company, and Married, With Children. I think those shows are awful.

Anything with Andy Dick in it is horrible. Some of the Three's Company episodes (not all of them) were AWFUL. The best ones imo were when the Ropers were on.

Brenton, you're not alone in your feelings about the shows you mentioned. Most of the ones on your list clearly helped slant America to the left with seriously liberal and unwholesome ideas (although we are so far gone now that many of you will be scratching your head at that statement).
Although Brady Bunch was silly, the one thing that separates it from the others on your list is that it's a show my kids can watch. I can't say that for any of the others. The Jeffersons wasn't too objectional, from my memory of it (I haven't watched it in reruns once since it originally aired), but the other eight definitely leaned heavily too the left!!! B&W "I think there were good sitcoms in the 50's and 60's besides 'I Love Lucy' though" fan |

![]() You also taught me that anything liberal must also be unwholesome. Where does that place moderate views? Of course you wouldn't know about those. It seems your black-and-white viewing isn't restricted to television. (I can only guess what you're scratching right now.) |

BTW, you err greatly when you assume too much from one, short post. I'm sure you immediately lept to your biased conclusions after seeing the hot button words "liberal" and "conservative." Well, just to make sure you know what I'm talking about, I'm referring to the moral climate and the Judeo-Christian concepts that our society had lived by for nearly 200 years. All Eight of the shows I alluded to did indeed tear at the fabric of morality in this nation to one degree or another. I'm certainly not saying those shows didn't reflect the views of some, but they undoubtedly pushed the limits of the accepted morality of the majority at the time of their airing. B&W "of course, this post isn't for you TVgen62, the mighty, self-assured scoffer that you are, but for the others who know what I'm talking about" fan |

TVgen62, I find it interesting that we both frequent some of the same boards here, like some of the same shows (at least according to your profile list), and were born only a couple of years apart.
YET you chose to respond to my short and simple post on this subject with much venom, sarcasm and disrespect. Either you have a political burr under your saddle, or a religious one, or both. But whatever the reason, it's your problem and not mine. To expand briefly on the shows in question without breaking all of them down, I'll say this: 1) Norman Lear was clearly "preaching" his self-proclaimed secular humanism to us in his shows. He has easily been one of the most "liberal", humanistic, anti-Christian TV producers of all time. This is not just one man's opinion, but is universally accepted as true, even by those that like him. 2) The shows in question glorify or at least condone many moral/social issues that are or at the time of their airing were considered immoral or questionable, such as - lying, drunkeness, adultery, sexual deviance, T&A to the max, disrespect for authority, etc. To deny this is utterly fruitless. 3) The really interesting thing here is that some of the shows you list as your favorites are what I would call "Family Friendly" shows that actually promote or at least portray the Judeo/Christian concepts of morality. Things like honesty, fidelity in marriage, courtesy, loyalty, and proper respect for authority. B&W "you obviously have internal issues, but that's no reason to act like Al Bundy" fan |

Please don't blame TV for society's moral decay. That's a cheap way out of not blaming parents for properly raising their children.

It is naive to think that the entertainment media doesn't have an effect on kids and adults. TV is a powerful force, perhaps greater than some realize. B&W "amazing how people read more into posts than is there. I never said or even implied that TV is soley to blame, but surely you must admit that it contributes" fan |
