The hilarious new CBS hit from writer/Exec. Producer Jeffrey Richman (Frasier, Wings) starring Nathan Lane as a one-time TV star - a openly gay actor - who lands on a much bigger stage in Washington when he wins a seat in Congress. Co-starring Laurie Metcalf ("Norm", "Roseanne"), Ted McGinley ("Sports Night," "Married ... with Children" ) and Stephanie Faracy ("The Lot," "Tales of the City" ).
Laurie Metcalf is replacing Regina King who wasin the original pilot as his Chief of Staff. |

I was wondering if they ever got that show off the ground.
Sounds like a good cast. Anyone know when it's premiering? |

Here's my Charlie Lawrence Psychic Prediction and Evaluation:
Okiedokie, here we go. Charlie Lawrence has been rumored to join the CBS line-up in March, by premiring at 8:30 Sundays, after My Big Fat Greek Life. This would put Becker on hiatus for that month. Now...Nathan Lane did not fine success with Encore Encore his last sitcom, which was on a few years ago, on NBC. It's ratings were mediocre, and the show litterally sucked. However, Nathan has become much more known now. He has changed Broadway forever, and no one will forget that. He performance in The Producers drew the attention of millions and millions of tourists and residents. They will all watch no doubt. Nathan is a comic force that is known greatly now. He's appeared in films and has had guest spots on TV shows since Encore Encore. However, E!E! had him as a straight, skirt-chasing father who taught little kids how to dance and act. Here, he plays an openly gay former actor. This is more fit for Nathan, and he can now really shine. And with the talent of Laurie Metcalf by side, he should be great. TV Guide has called it "The next 'Ellen'. Don't miss it!". Now, lets' sneak into the ratings aspect of it all. Nathan's previous sitcom EncoreEncore was litterally always ranked between #40-60 during it's run. However, at that time he was not known for anything but a fun, likable performance in The Birdcage. People found it awkward seeing Nathan go from a drag queen in The Birdcage to his character in E!E!. No one cared for it. Now however, he's made a name of himself, and can really shine. The last show in that timeslot was Bram & Alice. You'd probably think that CL would flop there too...but let's put this in perspective. Alfred Molina had done Bram & Alice before he hit it big with Frida. If B&A had debut mid-season, it would do much better. Now, with CL...there is already good star power. It's not 100% confirmed for that timeslot yet, because of problems with Becker...but I'm almost sure of it going there. Becker promotes moving to 8:30 on March 2nd...but by then, CBS will have decided a good timeslot for it. It's either there or Mondays, and I know for a fact that Baby Bob will go on Mondays, so that's outta the question. CL was SUPPOSED to debut in December or January, but CBS has not even done anything with it's mid-season stuff. The biggest question is: Will the show be good? My guess is...yes. I think that it'll be a cross between Ellen, Roseanne, Will & Grace, and The West Wing. It'll probably be a pretty adult-oriented show, and will probably have some nice slapstick. However, there is ONE BIG REASON why CL may not be good. It may cash in and focus too much on the homosexuality of the character, as in the last season of Ellen. It may just be a fest of gay jokes, and the usual "I'm gay, so that mean's I'm funny" stuff. HOPEFULLY...that will not be the cast. CL is almost guaranteed a slot next season, and I have good thoughts for it. |
