Smile The Five G.I. Actors Least Discussed (Who Played Main Characters)

There are five Gilligan's Island actors and actresses who *played* *main* *characters* in the series that are rarely discussed. I am curious if anyone has any information or thoughts on them. They are:

1. John Gabriel - played "The Professor" in the Pilot episode only. He was interviewed in the E! True Hollywood Story special! He said it was devastating when he found out he was being booted for someone else.

2. Kit Smythe - played "Ginger" in the Pilot episode only. She was also interviewed in the E! special and was also bummed that she didn't get to continue playing the part.

3. Nancy McCarthy - played "Bunny" in the Pilot episode (the character that was renamed Mary Ann). She wasn't on the E! special but Bob Denver said she had once appeared on Dobie Gillis, the show he was on before Gilligan. Anyone know if Nancy has ever talked about her Gilligan experience?

4. Judith Baldwin - played "Ginger" in the first two Gilligan movies. In the E! special she talked about how she knew people would watch her closely to see how she plaed the part. Dawn Wells said it just wasn't the same chemistry as it had been with Tina Louise. Anyone have any more info?

5. Constance Forslund - played "Ginger" in the third and final Gilligan movie. I've never seen her interviewed anywhere and am curious about why Judith didn't return for the third movie and how Constance enjoyed playing this role. I emailed Bob Denver once about this (from his fan website) and got a response ... he said they loved Candice and got along great with her. Any more info?

Hey I just realized, "Ginger" is the *only* character in the series to be portrayed by *FOUR* actresses! Kit Smythe, Tina Louise, Judith Baldwin, and Constance Forslund.

Okay, anyone have any more info on these folks, especially Nancy and Constance?

Hey thanks! I found entries for John Gabriel, Judith Baldwin, and Constance Forslund, but nothing on Kit Smythe or Nancy Mccarthy. The three I did find mentioned their Gilligan ties as a trivia fact.

Actually, she was portrayed by six actresses. Kit Smythe in the pilot, Tina Louise in the series, Judith Baldwin in the first two movies, Constance Forslund in the last mvoie, Jane Edwards (or maybe Jane Webb) in the first cartoon, and Dawn Wells in the second cartoon.

"Well, Laverne is sort of childish"

"Childish? Childish? COming from a grown woman who throws tea parties for her stuffed cat!"

"Well at least I don't sew L's on everything I wear!"

"Well that would be pretty stupid considering your name's Shirley!"

Wow, good point, I forgot all about the two cartoons! "The New Adventures of Gilligan" was one of my favorite Sat AM shows growing up. Didn't care as much for "Gilligan's Planet".
