Actress/Singer Nell Carter Dead at 54 - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

BEVERLY HILLS, CALIFORNIA - Actress and singer Nell Carter has died. She was 54.

Her publicist says Carter collapsed in her Beverly Hills home and was found by her 13-year-old adopted son.

Carter had won an Emmy for her role in the sitcom "Gimme a Break!" and a Tony for her performance in the Broadway musical "Ain't Misbehavin."

That is very sad!!! I just heard the news when I went on Yahoo and saw that she had died!!! She was a very funny lady and talented singer!!! I always watched Gimme A Break when I was growing up and it was a very funny show!!! We will miss her!!!

Dude don't compare Andy Ricther to Nell Carter dying that is just messed up. Andy might come back Nell won't. Get over your lame show and come back to reality.

I'm very sorry for Nell's family. I feel very sorry for her 13-year-old adopted son. I hope God watches over him and her family.

GOOD: Andy Richter gone
BAD: Nell Carter and Nedra Volz both die

That's so sad. I really liked Nell Carter. My prayers go out to her family and friends.

Poor Nell....... I had heard that she had diabetes and her weight would go up & down. She was too young to die........... My condolences go out to her family, children & friends as well.

I was so shecked when I first heard. I thought Nell was very talented and I loved "Gimme A Break!" I feel just terrible.

Just yesterday I was looking at a cast list thing for "Hangin' with Mr. Cooper" and was surprised to see her name on the cast list (never watched the show). And the next day I find out she's passed away

I'm sorry to hear that, I believe I saw her is a recent diabetes commercial a few weeks ago, and now I find out she has passed away at the yound age of 54, R.I.P.
