"That's So Raven" soared for Disney Channel.

The sitcom, starring moppet Raven-Symone, bowed Friday with four new episodes from 7-9 p.m.

Among kids 2-11, the 7 p.m. airing earned a 6.0 rating/21 share, with only slight declines as the evening continued. But because the network's average viewing age is 12, Disney's "Raven" made stronger impressions on older demos.

The marathon took the top spot in kids 6-11, with more than 1.6 million viewers tuning in. Each episode built on its lead-in, climbing from an initial 8.4 rating to end with a 9.5. The block was first in the time period against all other basic-cable competition among kids 6-11.

Series did well among girls 6-11 and girls 9-14, pulling in 1.6 million and 1 million viewers, respectively. Disney Channel has always favored girls, which make up about 60% of its audience.

Boys also tuned in: the 7 p.m. episode drew 493,000 viewers aged 6-11; by the end of the marathon, the number had swelled to 704,000.

Disney Channel is carried in 80 million homes.

I'm kinda behind here, but how do the ratings people know how many girls, and how many boys tune in???

Wow, those rating are pretty high! But, I also want to know how they track the viewers sex.

My family was a Nielson's family for a week, and I had to write down what I was watching and what sex I was and how old I was.

They just sent our family something in the mail asking us. I think they pick them by random. I wish I was still a Nielson's family, it gave me such a feeling of power.

Plus I think we got paid (I think...I don't know, it was awhile back).

Well, I am glad to see That's So Raven's rating so high! Even though I'm not a regular viewer, I like the show! Yay Raven!
