The sitcom from the 70's that I think is the absolute worst is Barney Miller and from the 80's is Cheers. So does anyone has ONE sitcom from those two decades that you hate to see on TV.

From the 80's, Growing Pains.
From the 70's, I have to think about it. I haven't seen Welcome Back Kotter in ages (is it on anywhere?), but that would probably be my pick. |

There is no accounting for taste.
If you think Barney Miller is the WORSTsitcom of the '70s and Cheers is the WORST of the '80s, you have a lot of problems. Hmm these shows are better than Cheers? Small Wonder Punky Brewster Silver Spoons My Two Dads Webster 227 Kate and Allie It's a Living House Calls Gimme a Break oh I could go on. |

I guess Cheers is talked about so uch and how great it is that really makes me hate the show beause it's not that good. Those shows you mentioned were not publicized as one of the greatest shows of all time like Cheers. Cheers is garbage. |

THANK YOU!!! Mostly, thanks for pointing out dreck that spewed from NBC like molten lava and left a trail of burn victims! Shows like Punky Brewster only lasted as long as they did because NBC had nothing else to offer. There are many more to name, as you noted, but we were asked to supply one show per decade, so I'll stick with Punky Brewster! (Although some "dis-honorable mentions" include Perfect Strangers and ALF. The 70s: Fortunately, there were a lot of great shows for me to watch. (You're right to defend Barney Miller -- it was funny, well-written and, apparently, too subtle for some of the slower viewers. )I was able to avoid most of the stinkers, HOWEVER, I must've slipped and fell into the occasional pile of s#$%, such as Holmes & Yo-Yo. My reflexes were quicker back then; I made a speedy recovery. |
